van vs. truck Rallys

I have been doing some bargain shopping for my 77, an found a set of van Rally wheels with like new tires I want to buy. I want these because I am running 15x7 steel wheels on my 77 and need tires...cheap. Also, I have 2 sets of 15x8 Rally's (1 with tires 1 without) and would like to get down to 1 set of Rally's, but have 2 7's and 2 8's. So I am killing 2 birds with one stone so to speak. I can get the wheels/tires for cheap if I exchange them with my 8" Rallys with tires so the van stays mobile.

So my question is, will the 8" truck Rally's install on the van with no front end clearance problems?

Jeff, if you don't get an answer PM Scoti. He is the resident expert on the van rallies.

Re: van vs. truck Rallys

They will physically fit but won't be ideal (the wheel/tire will extend beyond the fender of a van).

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

Aren't van rallys, or at least some of them, a 15x6.5 rim ?

Yes, van specific ralleys were 15x6.5" & they're the same appearance wise as the 7 & 8" truck ralleys.

Re: van vs. truck Rallys

So the truck and van Rally's have the same backspacing? As long as they fit without rubbing the suspension components, the guy won't care. He is parting the van out and needs to keep it a roller.

No the BS is diiferent; just not enough that they can't be used. IIRC, the 15x8's have 4" BS & the 6.5's were 3" BS.

Re: van vs. truck Rallys

If he's parting it out, why not put the wore out steelies off of your 77 on the van to keep it mobile and keep all of the rallys?

Because the 77 is in storage and un-accessible. I also want to try and resell the wheels that are currently on it...ugly (to me) 8" wagon with decent tires.
