I installed a 6" tuff country lift kit on my 72 GMC LWB. The kit came with a transfercase drop. When I installed the t-case drop spacer the angle of the engine (stock location), transmission and transfercase (1" lower) is quite steep (tilting down to rear of truck). The back of the t-case (opposite side of the front output shaft) is hitting the leading rearward edge of the t-case crossmember. Has anyone encountered this problem? How did you fix it? Or do you run your 6" lift kit without a t-case drop spacer?

I get what you're saying but I don't get why you are running a drop spacer on a 6" lift. I know of 8" lifted trucks that don't have a drop spacer... Do you need the drop spacer???

I am not sure, thats why I have posted the question. If the t-case spacer isn't needed then I will remove it.

I'd be surprised if you need to drop the t-case on that vehicle year with that amount of lift.

Not using the spacer will fix it.I never understood why they think this would help.If the engine could be lowered,then it would make sense.

I had to lower mine because of a bad vib at hwy speeds. Dropped it an inch and it cured it.

mudder and dammittmitchell how much lift are you running on your trucks? Was there a problem with the t-case hitting the backside of the crossmember? Any carb/engine problems due to the tilt of the engine?

I lifted a longbed 6" and didn`t use the t-case drop because it would make the short little front d-shaft a sharper angle,which is more of an issue than the longer rear d-shaft,which would have it`s angle made more shallow from dropping the t-case.I ha to lengthen the rear shaft 2" and none to the front.A t-case drop also puts the motor into the firewall a bit more,which I don`t care for.

Why not leave t-case w /out the spacers and if you have any problems with drivelines beeing short, how about geeting them extended. its the expensive way to do it, but its the correct way. I have 8" lift on my 71 blazer and thats what im doing. keeping t-case the same and just getting my drivelines extended.

mine is basically aluminum tubed spacers (like gigantic washers)
i havent seen or felt any issues..
my truck will romp in and out of puddles without any driveshaft issues.. but i have my axles andfled upwards with those wedge shaped blocks..

I dropped the crossmember 1 inch below the frame with an alumium block on each side. When I mounted my cab on the frame I made sure i had plenty of firewall clearence. I have a 6 inch lift now but had a 4 inch for a long time. I have altered drive shafts several times over the years.

Well I am splitting the differance on the t-case drop. There have been responses both ways concerning the t-case drop, so I installed the 1" t-case drop and made some 1/2" thick lift blocks out of teflon and installed them betweem the t-case mount bushing and t-case. So the t-case has a drop of 1/2". We'll see how well this works.

i didn't need a tcase drop on my 72 blazer w/ 6 inches. i extended and installed a cv joint. at 65-70 no irregular vibrations.

i'm getting ready to do the same thing, tuff country 6" and it came w/ the t/c 1" drop kit. i looked at a super lift 6" instructions i found on line and they do not come with a 1" spacer kit. but mention grinding clearance and the front drive shaft cv nubs on that end.
(mines a 85) i thought like you guys that just dont seem right to drop it down and then change the levelness of the other things...
i plan on not lowering it and checking carefully, till all is right.
anyone else chime in here...
