71 c10 LB, any reason I need to jack up the front end when mounting a sway bar and brackets, I can do easily with the truck on the gound, but wondering if the weight needs to be off the suspension

Hope im finaley in the correct forum now, Gonna order a fornt sway bar (LMC) unless someone could suggest somewere better to get bar and brakets, but my question is if I need to jack up the front end of my 71 c10 when mounting, I think I have enough room to work without lifting it but didnt know if the weight had to be of the suspension for correct mounting or if it mattered.

Shouldn't need to, but you may have to jack up one side to help you get the end links lined up. If you're not sitting level a jack will definately help to get it together.

As far as where to buy, almost all the vendors carry sway bars. Just make sure it either includes the frame bracket, or get one seperately.

Check your local junkyard and the parts board. You will pay about a 1/4 of what any vendor is asking.

^^^^ what Nate said. several salvage yards I go to have 1-1/16" diameter bars (oem) on junkers. plunk down $20 for one of those, a set of Energy Suspension urethane grommets for $26, and a couple of grade 8 bolts and your gold.

And with that setup, you'll save mucho coin!

I agree with the junk yard suggestions. Hit a junk yard, spend a lot less $$, and have the same quality setup.

You could always drive the truck up on a couple of 2x8 blocks or similar. That would get the front a little higher for you but would keep the suspension "loaded".

Edit: I should add, if you are lowered you can skip the frame "step" bracket and mount the sway bar bracket directly to your frame.
