Re: 8 footers look!!!

you could probably lay a sheet of diamond plate aluminum in there cheaper than the factory piece, it would be stronger too.

Re: 8 footers look!!!

For those who want to keep the factory look and have rusted out floors...this might be a better route to go than patching up the bed floor. Yes it's expensiive but try buying a rust free bed floor in the midwest. I agree shipping is going to be expensive.

Re: 8 footers look!!!

"The floor and bed side are like the original but one gauge thinner."

This is what they told me and since its one gauge off is it ok?

Re: 8 footers look!!!

might be one gauge thinner... and cheap steel too. The steel that came on these trucks is far and away superior to any patch or replacement... ESPECIALLY one that's thinner to begin with.

I'd go with diamond plate aluminum over this thing, any day.

I want to restore it later like maybe in a year or two and try to keep it original like have a metal bed floor that isnt eat up with rust and beat to heck and back again

Re: 8 footers look!!!

well, if you are restoring it... then I guess this bed floor will look like you want it to look.

I wouldn't consider it, but if I did, I wouldn't expect it to have the same strength or rigidity that a stock bed had/has.

In NC, you should be able to find a nice long fleet bed for a lot less than $1K!!

there was some one on here called hambone and I was going to go get it but things kept coming up and then the gas went sky high. I dont know what happened to him but I hope the bed floor is still around.

Re: 8 footers look!!!

Is restoration supposed to be cheap?Does anyone end up with all the good stuff by bargain shopping? As a long time restorer I`m in the mind set to just be glad that what I need is available.I definately wouldn`t put a thousand dollar floor in a thousand dollar truck.
