12 Bolt Axle swap - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

If I keep the 12 bolt axle in my 67 chevy I want to change it over to 5 on 5 . Has anyone done this and can point me in the direction of a company that has axles that are strong enough to take some abuse and maybe share some part numbers. Keep in mind that I will be refitting with disc brakes as well.

CPP has the conversion axles you are looking for. They are $289.00 for the set. I will post a link.

Summit racing may have them as well at a little cheaper price. I got 5 lug conversion axles for my 70 from summit but I had the longer axle and could use the stock 71-72 Axles. They may have the shorter conversion ones you are looking for as well, I would give them a call or check their website for sure. The ones for my 70 were $99 a piece with no shiping charge. If they have them it would save you around $100 as CPP charges shipping.

Summit has a cheap Rear Disk Brake Kit as well. This is the one I am looking at myself.

Here are summits 5 lug conversion axles. $144.69 A peice. They are a stronger hardened axle. I am not sure if CPP's axles are or not, I would check. With out shipping charges summitt would still save you some green.

Thanks, been needing to order some axles. Anybody running the superior axles? I've only used mosers in the past.

i have a complete currie 9in but i know they do 10-12 bolt also. call them up. i remember ordering my axles 5 on 5 and was questioned about it. guess most people go for 4 3/4. i have 31 spline extreme alloy and ran me $340
