Need paint/body recommendations in mid-cities/fort worth..>?

Hi:

I'm looking for paint/body for my 1972 GMC in midcities/Fort Worth. I do need a little metal work (rocker) and such, was curious if you guys had any recommendations? I'm not after a "full on show car" job, but would like it to be really nice.

This is where i go. It's my Friends Erik's shop. After being burned several times from several body shops years ago, this is the place for me. They are located in Ovilla TX, little bit out of your way, but they do quality work...

Re: Need paint/body recommendations in mid-cities/fort worth..>?

I just got my 99 yukon back from a paint shop in Lewisville today, and am really pleased with the results.

It was in and out in exactly one week, with no suprises, delays, or extra charges.

It was sanded, primered with epoxy, repaired some minor hail damage and door dings, then they shot it with base coat/clear coat.

I thought the price was very reasonable at $1125 out the door including tax.

What do ya think?

It is on Business 121, about 2 miles east of I 35
Luckeys auto painting, 972-221-8021

The Guy's name is Steve Luckey. He's been in the business for about 30 years. He can do everything from Maaco type $300 "Scuff and Squirt" jobs to high end show quality restoration work. It just depends on what type of paint you want to use, how much you want to spend, and how much preparation work is involved.

Yea, I know. I need to put some red and blue lights behind the grill so it will look official.

Wow, If you can get all that done for $1200 including paint, you're doing good. Even if you paint it yourself, (unless you're planning on using Rustoleum), you will spend at least half of that amount on good quality paint, primer, and materials.

I'll spend $1200 just on the paint when painting one........

Good materials is not cheap

Re: Need paint/body recommendations in mid-cities/fort worth..>?

No offense, but I'm not getting a late model suburban worked on, and not sure how that is even relevant to the question I posed? Nor the "I'm doing mine for $1200" comment someone else made. good?

Any other shop recommendations? I don't have the tools, equipment or experience to do my own paint/body and would rather have someone do a good job for a fair price.

Thanks for the two shop recommendations so far. Any others?

Yes, That was my intention?

Look at this paint job, and consider that black paint shows every flaw like a mirror, regardless of what kind of vehicle it is.

I thought some of you guys in the D/FW area would appreciate a lead on a shop that does this kind of work for such a reasonable price.

Thumbs up Re: Need paint/body recommendations in mid-cities/fort worth..>?

I can't remember the name of the Shop, but the owner used to be my next door neighbor here is Fort Worth. I have known him since 1986. I am an agent for Allstate Insurance, and I send him Everyone that asks me for a recommendation. As an Agent I have to be careful about who I recommend. Of all the customers I have sent his way in the last 10 years, I have never heard anything but praise for his work.

Gil Hernandez, Owner (817) 239-2407
David Skinner, Shop Manager (817) 877-0549

He actually owns two shops, one on Boat Club Road (Azle) and one just off White Settlement Road (near Downtown). He would my choice when I get ready to do my '71.

If you decide to contact him, use my name if you like.....Mike Keating.
