Need Help Please - Fuse Blowing - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Hi all.
I've just replaced my starter motor (it needed a refurb and turned out to be to totally buggered), and now whenever I crank the engine the 10a fuse for the fuel pump blows.
This wasn't a problem prior to the starter swap out. Any ideas / hints / tips ?

sorry to state the obvious but you have got a short. you pinched or broke a wire while you were changing the starter go over your wiring around the starter and see if a wire is bare and touching metal. sorry couldn't be of more help.

Does the fuse blow instantly? Does the truck run at all before the fuse blows?

That's what I thought, but I'll be buggered if I can find it, hence I was asking for help. I'll grab the meter and check again.

OK...Let's start with what kind of vehicle you are working on. Your sig. says '74 C30 but that would have a mechanical fuel pump sooo... You very well may have a short circuit to ground and I would def. check in the area you were working but it could also be coincidence. If you dont find anything near where you were working, try unplugging the fuel pump (if you can get to it) and then see if the fuse blows.
