Every day Ray
I stopped at a gas station today and this truck was filling up. I went over to chat with him...I believe he said his name was Ray. He purchased it brand new. Its never been garaged. He drives it every day. He washes it, or at least rinses off every day. Its had one repaint. The damage to the front sounds like it was recent but he plans on getting it fixed soon. The rocker is showing signs of rust, but he is going to wait until its a little worse and have it replaced...hopefully on a weekend, because he uses it every day. Not the original engine, but the trans is...His secret to long life in an auto trans? Dont change the fluid, ever. He told me his truck has over 800,000 miles on it. I said 800,000 really? Yep...I drive it every day.
I asked him if he ever goes online...On what? With your computer do you ever go online? No, we dont have a computer. Seemed like a pretty decent fella. He told me he also has a 65 Buick he purchased brand new. Also has a 54 Corvette. If he really does have them I bet they are really nice, because he has his pick up he drives every day.

Re: Every day Ray
That is cool to hear stories like those once in awhile. I wish I lived somewhere I could drive these trucks all year round with out risk of rusting out.

I've seen him driving that truck around every once in a while in marysville and lake stevens. He probably thinks I'm a crazy feller to be staring like I do every time I pass him.

Well when you find a good one and you like it there just isn't a good reason to replace it. Attaboy "I don't have a computer" Ray.

It is just broken in. Should be good for another 40 years and 800,000 miles.

Re: Every day Ray
That is impressive, to say the least. I love seeing stories like this. My longhorn is the only vehicle I've hever had for more than 5 years, and I'm only going on 7 years.
