I saved this picture from someone on here, it look really clean to me but not sure if it would be too restrictive.
Now that I have my 2.5 in x-pipe and have looked at my situation this setup is more appealing.
It allows the pipes to use the factory recessed areas to tuck up the pipes so they wont be as visible.
I'm thinking 1.5 in pipes on a 383 aren't restrictive by any means so a few more bends won't be noticeable?
My x isn't quite like that in the picture, so I'll try to substitute 45's in place of the 90's.

What do you think?

My opinion is that the X should be more "in-line" than this photo shows, but this may be better for exhaust flow than a simple H pipe....or not. I agree it's neat and fits well, but what fits isn't always what works best.

I agree!!!! Exhaust should have as little restriction as possible!!!! My self personally the only 90 shold be at the header or the manifold!! If i remeber right 5 90s become a complete block!!!

Mine was done by a local shop that does a lot of street rods etc. and was done pretty much as this one was. Although I don't think the area where they are siamesed are quite as restrictive. A little less severe of an arch. With the drop I can't get under the truck far enough right now to get pics. But before the pipe goes into the muffler I had flanges put on. This way if I ever need to drop the trans all I have to do is take them loose from the manifold and at the rear flange. Allowing me to drop it down without a lot of hassle.

Yeah, I agree. The path to and from the "X" should be a smoother transistion. The "X' in that set-up was actually intended to be turned 90 degree from the way it now.

I worked for Dr. Gas and did a lot of research in exhaust systems and he was the one that started the x-crossover and still is used exclusively in Nascar. That system pictured does not work well. I would use a system close to what is listed in Jegs or Summit catalogs. The size of the hole in the crossover is critical to its performance. Too small and it does not work and too big doesn't work either. Here is a picture of my Dr Gas 3" System. I was able to install it in the factory locations just fine.

I'm not crazy about that x in the picture. He's a picture of my setup.

After looking at it today I might be able to mount it there by using my 45* bends.

Here's a picture of what I've got.

Anyone else have pictures of it mounted in this location?

Ya those look like awesome mufflers. I agree on the X in the first picture to be restrictive, those are some sharp bends. It might even change the exhaust note?

the X in the first post looks highly restrictive. Probably more so than just running straight pipes/mufflers.
