i cried a little bit ...

when my '68 first fired up the other day ...

spent a day horsin' around pullin' parts off the '67, and puttin' them on to my '68 ... she was last tagged in '01, but its obvious she'd had a lot of motor work done ... anywho, put some gas in her, hooked up all her parts, and vra vra vra VROOM!!!

it's kinda like the day your kid says its first words, walks for the first time, uses the big boy potty for the first time, lol ...

i cried a lil bit, and all my buddies made fun of me, so i figured id share it all with you ...

thursday comes clutch day and hopefully maybe i can make the transmission linkages work ... then maybe she'll run AND drive, then it'll be video time ...

she's growing up SO FAST!!! lol

anywho, for those who don't remember, this is Jenny, the '68 ...

Re: i cried a little bit ...

its always such a good feeling!

especially when it cranks over like three times and fires!

that body looks pretty solid...what are you plans for it?

i hope its staying with some original patina?

Re: i cried a little bit ...

shes getting '67 fenders, other side fender is wrinkled REALLY bad ... shes supposed to go to the shop this month sometime ... actually, tech school, but its really small, and the instructor has turned out really great stuff ... i haven't seen anything not done right ... so they'll lay their hands on her and pretty much keep her original, save for '67 fenders, and some interesting interior perhaps, haven't decided ... but nothing too drastic ...

Re: i cried a little bit ...

it drives, it just painfully grinds, and the linkage is so loosey goosey i get all ticked off and frustrated from being impatient with not finding the gears i just say to heck with it, and leave it ten feet from where i started, lol ...

Re: i cried a little bit ...

oh of course ... i'm trying to move closer to the school, so i can hold her tire through the surgery, and stroke her hood and tell her "it'll be alright, jenny, everything's ok ... it might hurt a little now, but just think how GORGEOUS you'll be after a little fiberglass, bondo, and welding surgery!!!"

Re: i cried a little bit ...

Most of us have cried over our truck's at least once. I now I cried the day my 67 went up in flames!
Very sad day seeing how I had no insurance on it for that!

After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: i cried a little bit ...

Glade to hear you are going Orange. What kind f deal did you work out with the school for the work? I know our high school does a lot of work on high school students vehicles for just the price of parts. I use to go over and help with the classes years ago.

Re: i cried a little bit ...

If it is a 3 on the tree, pull the column apart and you may need to weld up the linkage holes on the arms, they are old and get worn out. I rebuilt my 3OTT column in my 68 4X4 Burb, i used some parts from another junk column I had and fixed it up, they never were very smooth when new so a floor shifter is a better solution, if you don't mind cutting a hole in the floor??

Re: i cried a little bit ...

well, i'm a girl, she's a girl ... she's getting sparkle, lol ...

and orange ... as far as the deal goes, work is free, parts aren't ... ive got all the parts i need, save for a few, and new body parts, panels, etc. ... so her outside will at least look sweet, i'm taking her interior into my own hands, ive decided ...
