Should I re-use the fender badges or not?
Just bought 2 clean used oem fenders. My truck is a silverado but these fenders came from a custom deluxe. Should I swap over the Silverado badges or should I just keep them off for a cleaner look?
Are they hard to take off? I haven't looked at how they are mounted yet but I would believe with clips of some sort? Also, should I undercoat the inside of these fenders to keep them from rusting? There is no rust on these but I figured for longer lasting metal?

Re: Should I re-use the fender badges or not?
i say without, when i did mine i think it looks 10xs better than with the factory badges on. i do belive that there are 2 bolts that hold them in inside the fender, but i used a hammer and chissle to get mine off it wouldnt hurt to undercoat them, the more rust proof they are the better.

I would run the Silverado emblems. I think they are held on with two speed nut accessible from the inside of the fenders. As for the coating, I say go for it too. Sounds like it would help.

I left mine off. Looks great with no trim on it.

I always undercoat everything..an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure

I say leave them on if you are going with a stock looking paint job. If you are going for a custom or non stock paint job I would leave them off.

Re: Should I re-use the fender badges or not?
Should I just use the generic auto parts store spray undercoating since there is no rust on these to begin with or... should I use zerorust? Zerorust has worked fantastic for me on already rusted surfaces but it is quite expensive and I would like to save it for already rusted surfaces.... like for my frame when I remove the bed.
As for the paint, I am having it re-painted the factory black, and plan on using the factory moldings/chrome. The badges to me always looked somewhat goofy but then again if I don't use them, I would have to fill those holes.

Re: Should I re-use the fender badges or not?
I prefer it with the badges on, but one other thing to consider is that the holes may not line up with the studs when you switch from Custom Deluxe to Silverado.

I'd say off and undercoat.. on the subject of the custom deluxe and silverado, what's the difference between the models?
