I am starting this thread because I have always wanted to tubb a 78 chevy short bed! I just came across coggedbelt75's 75 and I am super excited I had no idea you did not have to narrow the frame to fit some meat under these trucks. I am wanting to know how anyone else has achieved this including coggedbelt I know he c nothced the frame I dont want to bag this truck i want ladder bar or 4 link with coil over shocks! Lets hear from all of you im so excited!

Re: Pro street
With 44" rearend and 4 1/2" backspaced 15x14 wheels, I have room to run my street 31x18.5R15L Hoosier Pro-Street Radials with 14.5" tread width or 32.0/14.0/-15 Hoosier drag slicks with 16.3 tread width mounted on steel wheels with the same back spacing for burnout competitions.

Re: Pro street
CoggedBelt75 is that a narrowed rear? 44" seems a bit narrow for the stock rear. I'm just curious because of the backspacing. I'm looking at a set of draglites, 15x12 with 7" bs. I'm pretty sure the 7" bs is too much though. Thanks

Yes, the 12 bolt rearend housing has mosier big ford ends welded on and measures 44" flange to flange. Wheels are 4 1/2" backspace, 9" deep dish. The frame is a straight, c-notched stock frame. Joe

Re: Pro street
No, wish I could say I did, but at my age its easier to buy one already to go. I couldn't have built her for what I gave for her either. Picked her up 10 years ago with a 377 and nitrous. The only thing I built was the blower motor a little over a year ago. Everything has been taken apart for referencing and measurements tho. Well put together truck and enjoying minute of it.

Re: Pro street
hey man no worries, it's an awesome truck. I'll probably buy my next project complete; let someone else deal with the headaches and save me some time and money, too!

Re: Pro street
Hey coggedbelt75 do you by any chance know what brand of 4 link that is you are running? I really like how the adjustible lower shock bracket is welded to the rear end 4 link bracket. Also do you know if it came that way or was welded to it?

Re: Pro street
Don't know much about the suspension since all that was done to it before I acquired the truck. But there are some guys on here that have posted their suspension builds that in my opinion are very professionally built and I bet would help you out in that area. Joe
