I got the biggest surprise!

Just got the taxes done. I was sitting there and and the girlfriend asked how much we were getting back. A little over 8,000.00. I have been giving her just about every dime I have had to pay off bills and such. Everything is caught up and has been for 3 months she tells me. And then she says what I never dreamed she would say...How much do you need to get your truck going in the garage? I told her it was a long way from being done. And then she said...take the 8,000.00 and put in into your truck. I want something to goto the Mother Road Cruise! Ok I had to ask her what she said cause I think it stunned me about what she did say! She told me the same thing again and I must have looked like a deer staring into the headlights of a truck cause I felt I went numb and was ready to pass out. Cause having her telling me that just seemed like that was a never going to happen deal. After I let it sink in what she said...I realized that much is going to take the 69 Fleet to another stage of pieces parts to being a truck by June. I think first things first....get the rest of the sheet metal I need...then interior. The rebuild the 454 and the redo the M-21. Paint maybe the last. Still at 8,000.00 I am still going to be about 5,000.00 short...but its a hell of a start!

Anyone else using their taxes for their truck?

Re: I got the biggest surprise!

I'll be using part of my return on my truck. Just doing the frame and suspension. Most (90%)of the body work is done, only a couple custom touches left that I want to do, frame is the big pressing issue,so,,,,,,,,

Most of mine will go to bills and finishing the wifes bathroom, so she'll get out of mine!

We got $5,300 back. My wife handed me $100 and said here.

Sucks being in debt.

I am a Real Estate Agent...I would have to put a little away for a rainy day , and maybe tell her that you would like spend a weekend with her somewhere nice...( I do not know you or her and appologize for my very generalized following statements wich may or may not apply to your situation? )I would hate to see you lose that nice newly finished truck in a divorce settlement...I love working in the garage, my girl put up with it because she is a rockstar, she hates it and wishes I would spend some time with her, alone and not at a swap meet!!! you might be suprised how far a couple hundred dollars would go in Dinner, Flowers, a NICE hotel room and a chep bottle of whatever she drinks? Maybe you will start getting all the tax returns to spend for Both of you in the future also? Just thinkink outside the box (or garage) a little?

By the way congratulations!!!!!!! Taxes Blow. but I sure do like having clean water to drink?

Re: I got the biggest surprise!

If you are getting that much back you should talk to your employer about filling out a new W-4 form. They are taking WAY too much out of your paycheck and letting Uncle Sam use it interest free for the year.

I got a big surprise too. I paid my quarterly estimates and I still owe a nice chunk. Oh well the joys of being self-employed.

I would make a funny comment, but that is just plain sad.

Does this mean that Ca is closed for business? Or is just the accounts payable department closed? HMMMM

I'd move...FAST...

Move to Texas, we have no state income tax! Texas also has about 14 billion dollars of surplus cash right now. But the property taxes are a PITA.

Re: I got the biggest surprise!

Well, This is the first year I get to claim myself, now that I pay my parents rent (which I actually enjoy - because I know I'm helping them out with the little everyday bills).

I have no clue how much I'm getting back and I still am waiting on 1 more W-2. What I do know is that I'll be going to Carlisle with a full shopping list.

::Fingers Crossed:: my tax return is only funding my personal Bailout.

If I were old enough to get a return. I would spend it all on my trucks.

Re: I got the biggest surprise!

Ya all need to adjust how much you're paying uncle same. Right now, you're giving them a zero interest loan. If you had even put that cash into a savings account, it would be worth more than what you're getting back in the end. Then again, it is nice to get that "bonus" when you do your taxes...

Re: I got the biggest surprise!

It must be nice to get something in return! I made to much money and I only really worked 7 out of 12 months being between jobs and they say I still owe them money. That's after I had both jobs set it up where they took out more in order to try and at least get 5 bucks back. At least I was able to buy some toys through out the year.

Re: I got the biggest surprise!

We don't have kids yet so that doesn't help. Besides, kids cost more than you get for each one in the return. Waiting to pay off the car until kids come into the picture.
