TH400 to 700r4 Swap Questions

I have a 87 1/2 ton 4wd that has the original TH400/NP208 combo. I am looking to swap in a 700r4 but I have a few questions.

Will I be able to use my current transfer case and adapter w/o any issues? Will the driveshaft lengths stay the same (IE will transfer case stay in the same location)?

If I need a new adapter, can I just get a 700r4, and transfer case adapter from the same error truck and just swap them in? Basically, I want to know if the driveshaft lengths will be affected. I had both built not too long ago.

Also, a local guy to me has a 700r4 from a 1988 3/4 ton 4wd pickup, and a NP208 transfer case from a 87 fullsize blazer. He said they bolt up but can anyone confirm this??
