Welded up a rusted out hole in the floor about a 1/2" by 1 1/2". Replaced a piece of passenger side kick panel that was rusted out. With the rain today If ound out I've got leak behind the AC unit/heater core. Water was puddling up in the corner of the floor by the kick panel with no where to go now that it's all patched up. I'm pissed, just got in from the pouring rain throwing a tarp over the cab and drilling a hole in the floor. Looks like I have an excuse to spring for a Vintage Air unit now.

don't freak Sin. that's a fairly common leak. it's on the passenger side, correct. may be some dried out caulking around the heater box or the bulkhead to firewall seam. not hard to fix, but sucks when you find out during a monsoon.

and the..... L.A. and rain? what's that all about?!

I've calmed down a little now that I'm dry. Where's the bulkhead to firewall seam?

for the lack of better terms, it's a body seam under the cowl. the "caulk" the factory used sometimes get brittle from the heat of the engine. then it can allow a bit of moisture in.

your best bet is to wait until a nice day (and in LA that's 350 days of the year!), spray some water in the cowl and get under the dash with a flashlight. that's how I found my little leaker.

until then, pack a roll of paper towels and a bilge pump!!!

Not meant to hijack the thread, but does GM still make a seam sealer (caulk ?) for the driprails, and other areas such as Sinisters problem area ? I found a leak in my driprail. My windshield seal was wet inside. It is right by the seam. I am assuming the sealer needs to be replaced. Thanks for the rain huh ?

Are you sure that's the leak? GM put a little hole in each dash corner at the w/shield to drain water from said leaking w/shield and there is a drain "system" engineered into the inner rocker at the pinch weld. You can see the dash holes from looking through the w/shield at bottom corners. I had a '72 2wd that dripped from the e-brake handle when it rained, straight from the dash.

There could be an unfilled/leaking antenna hole under there too.
