Port or no port
I'm currently building a 427 bbc for my '74. I already have the short block assembled. My question is, i have a set of o49 oval ports that i took to the local machine shop to ask the guy wat he would recommend doing to the heads to get some decent power and he told me to just put some bigger valves in them and they would work just fine that it wouldn't be worth porting them but he could still do it if i wanted to. Should i still port them or not wat do yall think?

Re: Port or no port
i'd still port them, especially if you can do it yourself, then why not get the free horsepower out of them, and if you going to port them, you might as gasket match them and the intake. big valves are nice and porting will help them work all that much better imo

Re: Port or no port
Just make sure they clean the bowls up where they cut the bigger valves in
