Door Problems
Hey guy not sure if anyone has had experience with this but only on my passenger side door it is quite hard to close. If it is lightly shut it will be closed but not fully, i was wondering what this could be cause this and what i could do to fix it.

Most of the time it is caused by worn bushings and/or pins in the hinges. The door "droops" and then the striker does not line up. This can also damage the striker mechanism and the latch pin itself.....but it usually starts with the hinges.

Check the striker bolts where the door latches when you close it. It should have a plastic bushing on it and most of the time they're gone. If that's the case, go to the HELP section at an automotive store. They have a kit that has the size that will fit right over the striker bolt. You just have to remove the striker bolt, tap it on and then reinstall. It makes a huge difference and it should close all the way much easier, provided the door doesn't sag from worn out hinges.

Good reason to keep your hinges lubed.
If your having trouble finding bushings you can just move the top hinge forward on the cab just a little bit and that will pull it back up, but there is a snap in plug behind the dash vent (left of the headlight switch) that will have to come out before you can get to the inside bolt. The door will have to come off either way, so get a buddy to help you. |
