parts interchange on 73-87's

ok so monday i traded off my 83 cougar for an 80 chevy short box, and well needless to say i'm gonna need/want to replace a few items. so i was wondering what parts(body parts) would fit on an 80 chevy. i know that things changed around 81-82, but i'm not quite sure as to what i can use from the newer years. so here's the list of body pieces that i wanna replace. i'll get some photos in a little bit.

hood
passenger side door
passenger side front fender
both rear tail light lenses and housings
driver's side front side marker light lens and housing
gauge bezel and possibly the cluster
steering column(its from a newer model truck like 81-87)
dash cap/pad

Re: parts interchange on 73-87's

hood 73-80 fill fit, 79-80 is exactly correct
passenger side door 73-87
passenger side front fender 73-80
both rear tail light lenses and housings 73-87
driver's side front side marker light lens and housing 73-80
gauge bezel and possibly the cluster should be 73-80, i think
steering column(its from a newer model truck like 81-87) 73-87 will fit, i think 77-82 or 83 is correct. the year prior to wipers on column is the end.
dash cap/pad 79-80, 73-78 will work but need vin cutout, 81-87 will fit but not be correct

and a few more of all the things that i found that i want/need to replace. i figured that i would do the fender since i wanna replace the door and the fender isn't in the greatest shape. i also noticed that the vin window on the dash cap doesn't line up with the vin plate on the dash support so i guess that this is a different dash cap.

yep, it has a 81-87 dash it in. The older version will fit much better. Looks like they took the cluster bezel from the same truck and tried to make it work, the column probably came from the same truck. I would locate the correct year parts, it will look much better afterwards.

well i'm guessing that the column is the issue that i'm having with my turn signals and break lights. as far as the gauges are concerned, i gotta figure out if the gauge cluster doesn't work or if the guy couldn't figure out how to hook them up. what i might do is one of those billet bezels and do individual gauges.
