Inline 6 guys, intake/exhaust gasket....POS!

What do you inline guys do for intake/exhaust gasket on your engines? I bought one from Clifford, and it worked for a time, but it like all the others I used, cracked then blew out. Does anyone make a copper/steel one?

I love these engines, but that is one area I think needed improved.

I bought a set from NAPA for my 250, believe it was their brand and have not had any issues with it. It was a steel gasket and I have a stock intake and exhaust on mine.

When i used to run 6cyl's , I used OEM GM gaskets. If the intake is warped, you might have to double gasket it. If its really warped, you need it machined flat.

I'd bet that is the problem. I kept having problems on the 292 in my '67 C-50 wrecker. I machined it (with the intake and exhaust manifold bolted together) and had no more problems.

Re: Inline 6 guys, intake/exhaust gasket....POS!

Well I got a Clifford intake and Clifford truck headers on it...........They were flat when I put them on(I checked). Seems like the ones I used cracked in the middle of the exhaust port, then blew out over time. Its annoying. Drive the truck daily and it runs like a swiss watch, and the only time I lay a wrench to it is for this idiotic gasket.

Hey Willy, is that Felpro steel?????
