mounting a ceiling mounted tv .....

anybody have a celiing mounted tv in there truck? I have one left over form my last truck and was thinking of mounting it in my 87 dually to get it out of my closet.

I really see no way in mounting it, my old truck had an inner structure which hung kinda low under the roof skin but on my dually i dont believe it has anything to screw into without going through the roof skin. and the headliner alone will not hold it up since it is pretty heavy. anybody have any ideas?

Lester my good fellow, you have answered your own question. Your going to have to drop the headliner and install your own crossmember to the rails just above the door and attach the TV to that. I have my CB attached to the roof of my 84. I cheated though. Mine is held up by 4 rare earth magnets, but I don't think that will work for you. Mach up everything with cardboard first!! If all looks well, build the support and install it and your good to go. jim

Little stuff left to do is mount winch, wet sand & buff out and build belly pan\running boards. Body work takes lots and LOTS of beer!!!! God, Guts and Guns made America and God, Guts and Guns will preserve it! The worst thing you could do is get into my sights, but that don't matter, you'll never know it, cause you'll never hear the shotJim or Paladin whichever you choose.

yes, it doesnt have a dome light since it didnt have a headliner and i am putting a headliner in it I thought about trying to mout the tv to where the dome light would be since it would not go through the roof, but i dont think its wide enough to hold the tv up. Its a 15" fold down one and its not very light.

Re: mounting a ceiling mounted tv .....

there is a support that runs from side to side look at your ceiling see the sheet metal screws that run across thats where its at its a channle and all crew cabs have it
if I had a crew cab setting here with out a head liner in it I'd take a picture so you'll have to trust me on this one cause Ive replaced iner and outer skins and that support channle
