Unknown option code

Found a list of option code descriptions on swervin ervin's site, ran through the ones on my options sticker. I have one listed on my sticker that isn't listed. It's YM6 and described as Sequdia Special. Anyone know what it is?

I found one site that said it's headrests but that doesn't make sense.

oops - it is YH6 and Sequoia.... well hey, it was dark when I looked at it..... and the sticker is old... yeah.. that's it!

Well, a sequoia tree is one mother of a redwood tree, can be 300' tall, 40' diameter base. 8' diameter branches, have bark up to 31", weigh over 2 million pounds and there are some out there around 3000 years old. Guess I can see Chevy using a comparison to it to imply they have a bad ass product, but not sure what "options" would be associated with it. Anyway, when I saw it, thought my old truck might have some unusual feature or be part of a small group, you know, only a certain number made, etc. etc. Oh well, it's still a Chevy

I believe its the way its two-toned with pin stripes

I don't believe the option refers to the paint scheme since they already have codes for the solid, conventional two tone(ZY2), special two tone (ZY3), deluxe two tone (ZY4) and exterior decor package (ZY5) which were the available paint combos in 1984.

I think it is a package similar to the Royal Sierra or Bonanza packages from the 70s which were really just options grouped together called a special purely for marketing purposes. If you took several Sequoia Specials and compared their options they would probably all hold many of them in common.

The Sequoia Special was the spiritual successor to the Bonanza/Bonanza packages of the '80 and earlier time frame, which in turn descended from the even earlier Highlander discount option packages.

While the earlier packages were specific option groupings priced at a discount, however, the Sequoia amounted to the proverbial "buy several options, get one free" scheme, and were apparently offered during the winter/spring months. Specifically, the buyer would receive either C60 air conditioning OR MX1/MX0 3spd/4spd automatic transmission WITHOUT CHARGE if he selected the following options:

ZY4 deluxe two tone paint (not color specific, with contrasting color on the roof and lower bodyside)
V22 deluxe front appearance package (i.e. chrome grille/quad headlamps)
TT5 halogen high beam headlamps
U35 electric clock
A01 tinted glass
ZQ2 Operating convenience package (i.e. power windows/locks)
U58 AM/FM stereo radio (w/an upgrade allowed)
K34 electronic speed control
N33 tilt steering wheel
CD4 intermittent windshield wipers

The overdrive auto transmission discount was applicable only to 1982 and later 1/2 and 3/4 ton pickup models which normally offered that transmission on an RPO basis. The package content was likely fairly consistent from year-to-year.

Other than the reference to the "YH6 Sequoia Special" listed on your glove box label, these models are indistinguishable from similarly optioned (non-discounted) vehicles.

Bringing this post back from the dead, sorry..but I just bought a truck with that option code.

Ken is exactly right, because my truck has every one of those listed options, and also has AC and MX1, so I don't know which was the freebie, lol.

I picked up a 1984 GMC C1500 with this package and googled it and here I am, thanks for the info, mine too has all those options
