60/40 Seat Replacement - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I've got a line on a 60/40 "bench" seat out of a 90s Chevy for real cheap. I've heard from others that this is a good seat to have, because of the newer, better foam, plus it has the flip down console, which would be the nuts.

It's also a good seat to have for me, because the one I've got is in extremely poor shape (I glued boat cushion squares into the big hole on the driver's side).

Has anyone done this? Any ideas on whether it will fit or not? It looks like, from the pictures, that it's two seperate frames, too, so I know I'll be drilling some holes, but that's alright, since this is the River Runner, not a show-truck.

Any tips or tricks or pics if you've done it yourself? I did a search but didn't find much.

I thought the floors on the newer trucks was higher and the seat brackets were shorter to compensate...so a newer seat might need the brackets modified to sit higher...I'm not 100% positive.

I installed one of those seats in a friends truck several years back. the seat is a little shorter than the factory 73-87 bench seat. I took the factory brackets off of the oringinal seat, got out the cutting tools and the welder and modified the brackets to fit the newer seat. I don't recommend drillng new holes into the cab unless you've removed the gastank first. The tank sit underneath the rear bracket bolt on the drivers side. It will take a little fab work but the seat is more comfortable than the stocker. Good luck.
