TH-400 out of a motorhome...20k miles!! DFW

This 400 was pulled by a friend after driving it. Transmission has likely never been opened up. Has a transbrake on it right now and the stock lines still attached. You will probably want to replace them though. The torque converter is still intact as well.

I prefer local sale, but if you understand shipping will be expensive [over $125 I'd guess], I'll quote it for you and affix to skid for shipping anywhere terminal to terminal.

I am asking $275 + shipping or pick it up here in Terrell [30 miles east of Dallas].

I think it was a cable...haven't really seen one hooked up but I remember one when the motor was connected to it on the floor of his shop. First one I'd seen as well.

Trans brake is cable operated..I doubt it has a parking pawl in it. Also a good chance its a TH-475 since its out of a motor home.

What gears would be straight cut? the planetary gears? What other gears are there?

Not trying to take this thread in a diffrent direction... but what first geat? the input shaft? I just dont understand what "gear" this actully has in it that would have straight cut splines, that a normal th400 does not have??? Just trying to learn somthing

No problem, me too. The guy that bought the transmission told me that 'the' first gear was straight cut. He never told me it was the input shaft specifically so I really don't know either. He said he and his friend rebuild transmissions and motors for their race trucks. I assume he knows what he is talking about, but I never got any details. Maybe someone else knows.

I just dont get it, because first "gear" is simply a buch of clutches and steel discs that hydraulicly lock?
