what is this?

this was on the 72 mounted on pass. fender next to ths batt. ,I'm thinking maybe for rad. overflow but I don't recall ever seeing one on one of these trucks.but theres a large outlet below the rad. cap. (3/4 I think)anyone know what that is without a pic? also is this of any value to anyone?

I think it is for the charcoal canister (EEC smog stuff)

The large outlet below your rad cap is the heat exchanger for the auto transmission lines

there is also an over flow tube that comes out fo rad and just drops ontpo the ground

That is the bracket for the charcoal canister- early emissions piece. If you have a large nipple coming from the rad. it is prob a four core rd with a/c . The nipple is for a heater hose return instead of recirculating through the water pump. The over flow is connected to the rad neck and as stated run straight out onto the ground. The overflow reservoirs were relegated to military ,special service vehicles or dealer installed applications.

Oops, also forgot to mention the one for the heater hose return line. That is more than likely the one you are referring too, as you state it is a large opening.

okay so this is why they had heater hose connected there and intake outlet blocked and it is a 4 row,so can you just plug the outlet up?also is the bracket any good to anyone?
