I bought this motor and squirrel cage out of a junk truck. I think it's a late 90's model. I thought it would fit in mine but it doesn't. I was going by some old post about a higher speed motor.
My ? is do you think I can take the cage off of this motor and use my cage with it to blow more air?
Is there a better way to gain the higher speeds to blow more air in the summer time. The heat is fine?

If the shaft is the same size I dont see why not.
Might look at the current draw of that motor though. Not sure if the amps are more and if it would affect anything.

The motor should be fine except for maybe on the slower speeds! I guess I need to check that out.

Check to make sure your recirculating vent door is open (on the kick panel, passenger side) when you are running your A/C. Mine was closed for 3 years before I figured it out....now TONS of air volume blowing! It made all the difference in the world.

I had 4 or 5 67-71 fans on a shelf. There is about 3 sizes and styles. I noticed the ones that were A/C equip have a slightly larger diameter motor diameter. When I test them on the battery they run slightly faster too.

Are you talking about the one at your feet on passenger side of the cab?
If so that one I thought should be closed when the air is on. I just want more air blowing on me in the middle of summer. That would let outside air in without going through the evarperator. I think.

Yes, the one at your feet on the pass side should be open when the A/C is on. This does not let in outside air...it is the recircuating vent. The one on the outside of the truck, under the cowl, passenger side should be shut when the A/C is on. This is the fresh air/outside vent. They should operate in reverse when the heater is on.

Do this, and you will be blown away by the increase in air volume. Amazing what happens when something operates properly! It took me years to figure this out. Finally got it with some board members help!

I got the cage off the later motor. Now I have to get the one in the truck out and pull it apart to see if it will work.
