Gear Venders OD, New never installed

Now that I finally got my panel home and am starting the process of putting her together Im having to make some final decisions on my drivetrain.

The biggest thing I decided is I wont be using my Gear Vendors Overdrive Unit now. So if I can get $2150.00 plus shipping out of it I will let it go. Thats a $445.00 savings. If not Ill just hang onto it.

Its for a Chevy turbo 400. Gear Vendors part no.3DFS400A. You can see pictures and prices on their website, its the second one from the bottom of the page. http://www.gearvendors.com/hrgm3s.html

It weighs almost 60lbs. I can only ship via UPS so if you're interested check the UPS shipping calculator. Shipped from a commercial address, zip code 98005.

Sorry I don't need anything in trade. Thanks.

Mark

Re: Gear Venders OD, New never installed

Most of it is still sealed in the original boxes unopened from when I purchased it. I did take a peek at a couple of things before I put them back in their boxes. Here is a pic I "borrowed" from the GV website. This is everything it comes with.

Probably too expensive of an item to sell in this economy, but TTT anyway.

I told them I was running. Caddy 500, turbo 400, 28 inch tall tires and either 3.73 or 4.10 rear gears. They took it from there.

Is there any transferrable warranty? If so when does it expire?

Re: Gear Venders OD, New never installed

Can you find any paperwork that states which rear? I only ask because on the website it states that they set up the unit for the rear end gearing also. I am just trying to figure out if it would in fact work for us.

for a possible buyer, all you need to do is call GV and tell them what your tire height is and your rear gears and they'll send you a coloured gear to replace (if needed to) the one installed (simple job replacing). your speedo will then be correct and they'll be able to tell you your final gear ratio with the GV.

CG did you know that the old caddys in the early 70's ran a rear end at 2:28. My 425 in the Burb had a 3:21 and with the GV installed it was now at. 2:89 (number came from GV). 70 mph at 1400 rpm on the I5 Hwy.

Re: Gear Venders OD, New never installed

I have no idea on the warranty. Ill call GV and see what I can find out. Maybe they have the info on the interior gears they installed in it too.

Re: Gear Venders OD, New never installed

Mark, in your GV where the speedo goes, the cap comes off (see your pic, the 1 1/4' circle) when you look inside, you will see the colored gear, (GV has them color coded) let me know the color and I'll look in my book and tell you what it is............

........or call GV, give them the serial # and they'll tell you on the spot.

Al.
