I just tubbed my '70 and I'm going back and forth about dropmember/bagging it. I want to keep things as simple and reliable as possible. I've had friends that have been stranded due to blown bags and I dont want to be that guy so I'm really leaning towards static. I have 3" coils and 2.5" spindles installed and its still not quite as low as I want. Running a 26"ish tire I would be comfortable with the stock crossmember being about 3" off the ground with a firm ride. I've dealt with less, trust me. I'm not too keen on aftermarket lowering components. With lowered coils and spindles can I go even lower with dropped arms added to the mix? I know I SHOULD run tubular upper arms but at what point do I NEED them?

there is aguy on the board who lowered his truck static quite a bit maybe he will chime in tcb-1 i think

what is the best way to lower a 1969 stepside 2wd that will have the tank in the rear? i want a nice even stance. what should i go with what kit would i use and things like that?

Do you have any pictures of your stance? I dropped mine 5/7 but I wanted to get my body work done and my engine bay painted before I put the motor in it so I dont have any idea what my ride height will look like. I would like to see a pic dead on from the front back and side if you have them. Thanks man

what? do they not have bumps in the road in texas?

seriously, i know nothing about lowering, but it looks damn cool, and im trying to learn about it. good luck, hope you get what you want with your truck..

You should leave your truck with me for a few hours. It would be slammed in no time. Funny you should say that I once tore off an arm on a man hole cover that was built up about 6 inches. I was going about 60. Fun ride just had to change my pants afterwords. If anyone from Lubbock reads this be ware it is at 34th and Q.

I should have some pics by Sunday. My truck is mocked up for now. Bare bones cab, complete doors, dummy engine and tranny, core and fenders nothing else. Im expecting a couple hundred more pounds with all the little stuff but the way it is now my 27" tires are about an inch away from the lip of the fender. It needs to tuck a couple of inches before it will look right.

I'm a firm believer of "all the way."

If your air suspension system is installed correctly, and you use quality parts, it will never leave you stranded. Of all the times I have been stranded, it's always been a dead battery, the carb, or something else with the engine. Never once have I had a suspension issue in the last 3 years of daily driving.

Twisted, can you get shockwaves with the same heim-joint ends as quality coilovers like QA1's? I'm asking because it would be cool to be able to swap between the two in the rear...

Honestly I don't know. I am not really a big fan of Shockwaves, so I don't know much about them.

However, I have always wanted to build a cantilever setup that uses a small stiff air cylinder for lift, and a nice coilover in place of the lift bar. That way you would always be riding on the coilover at any height you want. With a small diameter air cylinder, they don't compress much at all, much like a small hydraulic cylinder. So the majority of the suspension movement would be absorbed on the coilover end.
