Rochester Quadrajet

So while poking around my truck I've now found I have a TH350 not a TH400 as PO normally said AND to really top it off.. I pulled the serial # off my carb.. some funny results..

The number I got was:

1708-5-5-8-6

Which basically means:

1708 = 1980
5 = 1985
5 = Cali Emissions
8 = Checker and Marine
6 = Auto transmission

Upon doing some reading it appears Checker and Marine is exactly that a marine company so it perhaps looks like my Qudrajet belongs on a boat ...

If you think about it, It is on a boat....

If it performs properly I wouldn't worry about it....

Ya know.. I was going to make a crack at it like you did but figured no..

Thing is its not working properly.. if I put the pedal to the floor it bogs badly and looking at it today looks like there maybe a gasket leak (just not a lot).

So I'm going to do as said and buy a 600 cfm carb and pull it and use it as a backup means or sell it to someone for parts.
