Using a Stud welder

The guys I have working on the body have recommended that we get a stud welder. This will be a one time use on about 6 or so dents, so I trying to get one off of eBay (if I win auction) or harbour Freight while they are on sale for $99.00.

Anybody have any input on the do's and dont's on the use of one?

Thanks
Jake

I'd just do it the old fashioned way and save the coinage.

Re: Using a Stud welder

Just make sure the metal is clean before you weld on a pin, otherwise it will just pull off. I have found these to work well for some things.

Re: Using a Stud welder

If I use the old fashion way I'd/the body guys will be welding up a bunch of holes, which is still an optionIf I don't win the bid. Harbor freight has them back ordered and expect then in 4-6 weeks.
