I have 33 x 12.5 x 16.5 tires on aftermarket rims on my 72 C-20. I am going to look at some factory rims at a local yard that are both 16 and 16.5 Neither set are split rims (I have confirmed this) I am going to assume they are both 7" wide. Will either set fit my tires??? Obviously, the 16.5 would be first choice, but the 7" width is what concerns me the most. Thanks.

To add another question: If my current tires won't fit on the factory 7" wide rims, what is the largest tire I can go with? Thanks.

I`ve seen Joes Junk has a 4wd that he mounted 12.50/33s on factory 7" rims.I`m sure tire people will tell you that will cause a high crown in the tread surface.The stock 16s that came after spilt rims are narrower and I wouldn`t do it.The 16.5s jump down from 12.50 to 9.50.The 9.50s would be the recommended size.They dropped 10.50s off the radar.I think Coker has some bias ply for restoration jobs.

I have 31 x 10.50 x 16.5 tires on my truck and they are on 10" wide rims.

I replaced the old 16.5 inch rims with 16's as well and the largest tire the they would put on those rims (they are actually like 6 1/2 or 6 3/4 inch width I think they said) was a 285/75 R16. They measure just smaller than 33 inches. I was told anything larger could actually slip off the bear during something as simple as hitting an imperfection in the road such as a minor pot hole. Truth or not? I have no idea, just what I was told...

I did put a set of 33x12.50x16.5 tires on 16.5x6.75 wide wheels. They actually fit and looked pretty good. The wider wheels are just so hard to find. A 285/75/16 tires on a GM 6.5" wide wheels works too. Ford vans have a 16x7 steel wheel and 285/75/16's look good on them too.

my fav is a 255/85 r16 little narrower than the 285 but same height or a tade more. I still like the look of a narrower tire and less rolling resistance pushing them down the road.

yep, a 255/85r16 will fit a 6.5 rim. It is roughly 33.4". The 285/75r16 is something like 32.5" (i think). I'm guessing the 285 will fit a 7" rim.

255/85 is what i run as well. the narrower tread creates a higher lb/sq inch factor which equates to a better slick road tire and as tazz stated less rolling resistance.
