1968 truck
Want to ask questions about the 1968 chevy short bed 4x4 that just went off ebay. It was located in North Carolina and it was light blue in color. Wanted to know if any body went to look at it and the truck does not have any side marker lights is that true for a 1968. Thanks for any help with this, I'm interested in truck but truck is 7 hours away and things always look better in a picture than in person. Thanks for your help.

rckendal
I just looked at the completed auction ad The side markers were probably shaved along with all of the trim/emblems when the respray was done. It appears to be a 1968 with alot of the desireable upgrades already applied. Disc brakes/V8/Power Brakes Etc Overall it appears to be a very nice truck.

Re: 1968 truck
Where in NC was it? I live in Greensboro though I can't get around to look at it right now. There are a lot of members here in NC.If you post where and the E-bay ad,it may be that someone knows the truck.

Re: 1968 truck
Sorry the ebay number is 260359594731. I talked to the owner and he said the transfer case was making a bad noise and it would not make a long trip. What cost is envoled in a rebuild of a transfer case. Thanks

Re: 1968 truck
I think rebuilds typically cost around $300.00. If your serious take a trailer or find a shop there and get it rebuilt before you bring it back with you.

Re: 1968 truck
I would just take a $50/day Uhaul trailor and pick it up.
5 speed (NV4500?) and what TC? nice useable truck, i'd pay money for it... That's a $4,000 truck with a $4,000 drivetrain easy... Nice truck, not many Short wheel base 68 4x4's... maybe 1500 in stepside? I don't have the numbers handy. What is he asking for it?

Re: 1968 truck
He is asking 7000.00 for the truck. He said the trans. is out of a 98 and the transfer case is the one from the truck. It was a three speed 6 banger and he put a 5 speed and new 350 motor. He said trans fer case makes a noise and he did not trust it on along trip.

Re: 1968 truck
I don't personally know the truck but it is located in the same county I am in. I looked at the ebay ad for a friend and told him I felt that it was about right at the $4800 price range. There are several 4x4 located in this area and if like most there are some issues.... the pictures do not represent a $7000 truck imo. If you are serious about the truck I can go look at it if you can work out time etc. with the owner- Sunday would be better for me as I have coaching responsibilities through the week. Harold
