am i crazy?
im toying with the idea of selling my 1969 C10 and getting a late model, 2wd 6.0 liter shortbox truck to hot rod.
i would want a cam, intake, headers, and exaust done to it, i read in hotrod these mods would put me up to knocking on the 500 hp door? how much of a pain are these to tune in their factory trucks? what about buying a factory V6 truck and swapping the 6.0 in...how much work is involved elctrical/computer wise?

Re: am i crazy?
You are not crazy. I am planning on getting some year shortbox and making it out perform all things. I'll use it for my DD when I swap in a newer 6.2 in my K10.
If I were you I'd sell some parts you arent using. Then buy a 90's or early 00's shortbox and use it for a DD and use the 69 for towing, and on the weekends. IMO that is.

Re: am i crazy?
Your crazy. If you want to make 500 fuel injected horse power you can do it in your truck for less money I can almost promise you. Let me know if you want to know more.

Re: am i crazy?
its one or the other unfortunatly, i dont have funds for both.
i have a stocker DD for winter, and this would be my weekend warrior, much like my C10 is now, except it wouldn't haul as well

Re: am i crazy?
I wouldn't do it. Getting 500 HP out of a 383 is easy. Newer trucks have weak 10 bolt rearends and are much heavier than your truck. If anything, I'd save and put a 6.0L in your truck if you just want a 6.0L. I wouldn't get rid of a great truck to get a ho hum truck just for the engine - this comes from an owner of a 2000 Z71. My Z71 is OK, but its nothing exciting to me. Its just a truck, and my 67-72's are my babies!

Re: am i crazy?
I say keep your old truck and swap in the new motor and tranny. I plan to do just that with mine. Classic looks, a strong third member and an updated motor and tranny....best of all worlds!
