rear disc brake kit
Anybody have a rear disc brake kit that they like? I'm not looking to spend thousands, just mainly tired of looking at drums behind 20" wheels. I would like something that wouldn't require changing the fronts out right away in order to not look weird. Help me out.

subscribing, like to hear what others have done or plan to do...
theres a thread about the caprice disc set up on here w/ f body calipers but we need a template for the caliper bracket so someone can make them.

Re: rear disc brake kit
I've heard of the Impala SS/Caprice 9c1 brake swap, that needs a custom bracket, but then I found this:

Swap in a Lincoln or Caddy 5X5 rear end. Easy disc conversion!

Re: rear disc brake kit
From the emails I have sent to Blackbirds, they say the only non-GM part is the custom bracket, so calipers, rotors, and pads should be easily available, not a custom part.

Re: rear disc brake kit
He only uses GM parts, the calipers are the same size as your front ones on your truck and so are the pad. Same PN and everything..

Re: rear disc brake kit
From what I understood, the bracket was custom, non-gm. Is this correct or did I misunderstand?

I did not set it up with a parking brake because my Suburban will be bagged & laying frame, it won't need it. Speedway Motors also sells complete weld on rear disc brake kits. Pic of my rear disc brakes. The Suburban stops on a dime now, brakes are much more responsive.

Re: rear disc brake kit
Does anyone that has used a kit have a template of this custom bracket? with the specs? I know a good machinist and would like to give him the specs to see how hard it would be to do. That way I could just get the other parts from the parts store and save some $$$. Thanks
