its funny, i live out in the country up here, and if i pass an older guy on a tractor on the road, i get a big wave or something aswell.

I know exactly what you mean. There's a guy I've been seeing here in town over the last few weeks that has a clean stock looking 71-72 SWB fleet. The first time I saw him I was looking at his truck passing in oncoming lane and glanced up and saw him looking at mine (I was in my red '69). I saw him again about a week later and he gave me a thumbs and I returned the gesture. I saw him again this week while I was in my blue '69 beater truck and he looked over and kinda hesistated, and then threw up his hand like he recognized me. If I catch him in a parking lot or whatever, I'm going to pull in and speak to him and pimp out the board a little!

I saw a guy with another 67 GMC at a stop light & we chatted for a bit. It's always good to meet another member of the "cult". 67 to 72 guys are always cool people.

Re: ever notice...

When my brother was driving our 71 back to williston he saw a guy driving a 67-72 in billings/laural area and said the guys face was pressed to the glass!! I got pulled over in our 68 GMC by a cop in williston, and though he never said or admitted it, I'm pretty sure he just wanted to check it out. I love seeing muscle cars/trucks on the road, and love it even better when ur driving one and someone just can't seem to stare enough.

Re: ever notice...

When I lived at my old apartment, on my drive home, I frequently passed an older gentlemen in a pretty nice orange 69/70 longbed. Whenever I was in the 67 we exchanged head nods. I moved from there about 8 months ago and haven't passed him anywhere else since.

There is a BEAUTIFUL dropped red 68 shorty fleetside in the Taylors area that I've passed a couple times.

Re: ever notice...

I've seen a couple around town (And have mentioned the board a few times) and when I pass them it's always a friendly wave. Me and another guy pass each other about everyday at the same time on the highway and we always wave. I talk with some guys while I'm at work and they're working on theirs and we'll just talk and talk for about an hour and it's all about the trucks, mods and things we can do with them.

Re: ever notice...

When Im out in redneck's ville, (tomball) I see some every time. Though I haven't been up that way in the CST10 yet.

In the Firebird it was that way with Pontiac F-Body owners. Flipping up the pop up lights was common.

I always wave and get waves most of the time. What I don`t get is when a driver just looks at me like "why is he waving?".

Re: ever notice...

I usually flash the peace sign at the other 67/72 drivers. Most return it, but some guys just drive their cheap boss'es work truck [..."SOB's too cheap to buy me a new truck grumble, grumble..."] and look at you like you're funny.

Re: ever notice...

The only time I get a wave back is when I am riding any of my motorcycles specially the harley but I have yet ran accross another 67-72 on the road. I have only seen a very few at car shows and usually get to speak to the owner of them, but thats it.

Re: ever notice...

I find this interesting. When I had my Corvette it was normal to get a thumbs up...but...when I was driving my Corvair normally no such greeting was given. Our trucks are Americana and Icons so in a way these vehicles are special. It was our trucks "67-72" that one could start finding car like options and bigger engines. Plus the classic lines of our trucks are timeless. I use to get chuckles when people saw my truck on the road because normally it ended up behind a tow truck. But soon...very soon my truck will complete a 14 month transformation. Then I hope to experience the thumbs up.

Re: ever notice...

I always give a wave or a thumbs up to others with these trucks sometimes even if I am not in mine.
Same type of thing happens with Jeep wrangler owners. My wife drives a Jeep wrangler unlimited (4dr model) for a couple of years now and she has been getting and giving waves to all the other Jeep people on the roads.

I too had a Corvette and it is a almost wriiten law to give another Vette owner a wave when meeting ..I have read this many times in Vette books.

As for the Chevy Truck ,,I give a wave or thumbs up too.. and hardly ever do I not get the same thing back..

Just don't go to garage sales or you will never get away from the interested lookers to get to very many sales.. no compaints though ,LOL

I know what you mean, everyone usually waves, but I saw this kid one time in a blue and white lwb, nice truck. I waved and he looked at me like I was from another planet.

Re: ever notice...

I don't get to drive my truck as much since it's not on DD status anymore. There's also not too many 67-72's running around in my area, but I do wave when I get the chance to see another guy driving one of these great trucks.

There has been a guy driving around here lately in a very rough stepper. He looks to be a young guy. A couple weeks ago, I was washing some cars and pulled my truck out in my front yard since it didn't need washed. The guy drove by while mine was out front. I think his neck must have been made of rubber the way he kept it turned back to look at mine.

There's also another guy I've noticed around here with a 67 stepper. It's about a Copperhead orange color. I saw him Monday morning, but I was in the F*#D and by the time I caught up with him, he got in the turn lane and I didn't get a chance to at least wave or nothing.

That's pretty much how it is here. You can tell they're checking out your truck as you check theirs out though.

Its alot like the unspoken brotherhood of anyone on a motorcycle.

Drop a hand and point when you see another guy on a hog.

Some respect is givin to anyone who is dumb enough to try and fix one of these trucks up and drive the thing. LOL... two nuts on a tree... lol

Re: ever notice...

I tend to drive things that have other waving and commenting on.I`ve found I tend to key-in on other like vehicles no matter what I`m in.I`ll be riding along in my`92 and get thumbs up.I guess it`s getting classic, too.

Isn`t it funny when you see a 67/72 and you`re in something new or a teeny econobox? You wave and figure they`re thinking,"huh huh,you wish you had one".
It`s the same with anything.I`ll be on my bike and nod at the trucks or be in my truck and nod at the bikes. That seems more natural. They kind go hand in hand.

Re: ever notice...

I parked my truck at my local Lowes Sunday night and as me and my best buddy [the owner of a '72 Burban] got out and started toward the entrance another guy exiting the building came up to me and literally congratulated me on the ownership of my truck, rust n' all. My buddy looks over and gave me that "told ya - these trucks are badass" kind of look.

I was damn proud to be a '71 driver
