I want to see your in bed gas tank fillers

I already know where I am going to put my filler in the bed but I need to see what my options are as far as fillers to mount in the spot. I see the same chrome one ever where I look. Any one Have any better options.

Re: I want to see your in bed gas tank fillers

John Fabris has a nice setup on his truck...

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...ight=huggercst

and in that write up you can link to huggercst's build thread. I can't find it right now, but somewhere he did a real nice write up on how he did it. It's what I'd like to do, but am just concerned that the nozzle may not fit in there...I think last I read, it wasn't on the road yet to test filling it up.

Just do some wandering around, I've read quite a few, but am too tired to go back and find them right now. I know I've seen a side marker fill, if you've got a later model truck, and some people do the bed fill thing, and I've seen some pretty sweet custom things like in the Low-Buck build Rokcrln did.

Good luck

Re: I want to see your in bed gas tank fillers

I welded in a filler door from an 88-98 model C1500 truck, and still working up the cover for the inside of the bed.

Are you set on it being in the bed? I am an engineer in the Detroit area, and I get into the Detroit autoshow prior to it opening to look at the cars in advance. While I was there this year, I found some trick pieces that can be used on these trucks. One of them was the Mini Cooper fuel fuller door assy. It looks like a billet Cobra style filler, but is actually a door. I also looked into the Viper fuel filler. If you are able to countersink your filler in the bed side, this is a neat cap as well. Still similar to the Cobra. Cobra caps are about $165.00 though. Ouch!

The Mini Cooper version is the direction I am leaning in for mine. It comes with the bucket that is sunk into the body side, the door, body color trim ring, and fill neck. I looked it up, and the price is $150.00 for the complete piece from the dealer.

Here is my cheap-o gas filler. I got it at the boat marine store here in town.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: I want to see your in bed gas tank fillers

HuggerCST...again, in my opinion, your tailight filler is the sweetest setup I've come accross. Makes it hard that is seems like the full-length LEDs aren't available anywhere anymore, but I'll work through that when it's time. I've not followed up on your build...do you have that truck on the road? I think the last I read, you hadn't tried filling it up yet?? I don't know if you've got these huge arse pump nozzles with the recovery sleeve or whatever it is out there in Lousiana, but does the nozzle fit in there ok, and can it fill quickly?

thanks,

Exactly! If it was easy, alot more people would have done it.

Kevncar- Thanks! I don't have it on the road yet, but I'm close. I'll probably take it down the road in a few weeks and try it out. I'll be sure and let you know how it goes, and no, we don't have the big boots on the pump nozzles here. I wanted something hidden, and almost went with the side marker filler, but this gave me more room.

Oh ok, now I understand the "Pain in the butt." I like the looks of that. I'd bet you could swap your cap for the pop up style cap if you wanted. At least you wouldn't have to keep up with the "key" anymore.
