TV cable question
So, I'm about to go pick up my 700r4 in about an hour. My question is, can I set the TV cable without my driveline installed? I wanna install my tranny then measure for my driveline...and while that is gettin worked on, set my TV cable. Can I do that or do I have to be able to drive my truck to properly set the TV?

Re: TV cable question
You can do it now. The TV cable adjustment has to do with making sure it's fully extended at WOT. You don't need to drive to adjust it.

Re: TV cable question
The TV cable should be all the way out at wide open throttle,

Re: TV cable question
Visit Bowtieoverdrives.com. There is some great information on setting up the tv cable on thier website. I'm currently using thier kickdown kit on my 280Z with a ZZ430 crate motor and 700r4 transmission. The kit came with a pressure guage, about 4' of line, and instructions so you could temporarily mount it to the test port on the transmiision and monitor it as you drive the vehicle to perform the tests in the instructions. I've had mine for a couple years now, drive it hard and it has not failed,

Re: TV cable question
adjusting it by just WOT and click works great in a 100% stock/original aplication. However, since your engine was not originally equipped with a 700, then the WOT and click won't work.
You can install it like that, and adjust it like that, but I HIGHLY recomend the bow tie overdrives kit, and get it done right. If it is off by just a little, then it'll feel great for 10 - 20 thousand miles, then it'll be scrap weight. |

Re: TV cable question
Row,
I will post a pic tomorrow of mine. I got mine from our GMPP dealer here in town. It looks the same but am not positive that its from bowtie. Its relativily easy to adjust. I was told by my tranny guy to slowly push back the throttle cable to the WOT position while pulling the tv cable until its fully extended and tighten her up. It seems you have the push rod style throttle, so you might need the cable setup anyway. Oh and the motorcraft F*&d lines arent doing any good
