can someone ID this steering wheel?

I don't think this is the deluxe wheel. But, is this horn ring from our trucks?

Re: can someone ID this steering wheel?

Heeey I have that wheel in my '65. From what I have been told it was an add on option. I don't see too many of them either.

Re: can someone ID this steering wheel?

65VOL your right. Here is a pic of the steering wheel in my 66' C10. The second pic is of the original sales invoice for my truck with all the options. The last option is "Streeing Wheel Ring" for an extra $6.55.

That steering wheel is specific for a 1966 pickup with the custom cab option. Custom steering wheel and horn ring, Custom cab emblems, Glove box emblem, Custom seat and a few other upgrades.

Re: can someone ID this steering wheel?

The '60-'65 Custom steering wheel and chrome horn ring is the first photo and the second photo is the '66 Custom steering whell and chrome horn ring.

Originally, I thought the Custom steering wheel and chrome horn ring was the same for '60-'66, until I acquired a couple '66 Chevy trucks with this option. I prefer the '60-'65 Custom steering wheel and chrome horn ring style, but the '66 is pretty cool are more rare, since it was only available for one year.

Ya know I didn't look at it that closely the first time, but LilRed the two pics you posted got me looking more carefully. I have a 65 c10 custom and my wheel is the first pic you posted.

Re: can someone ID this steering wheel?

Thanks Tony, that explains it. It's in a 66 Custom Cab truck that I bought a few months ago. Lately I've been thinking of selling the truck. The wheel itself looks like just a stock wheel. Now, the next question; if it's rare, what's it worth?

X2...this is the custom cab steering wheel for the '66 trucks. It's the same steering wheel used in the Chevy II/Novas.

I also prefer the '61 through '65 custom cab steering wheel (it's the same steering wheel used for the '59-'61 Biscayne and '60-'61 El Camino). The '66 custom cab truck steering wheels are quite plentiful because of the Chevy II/Novas.

4danch, I'm not sure what "Comfort and Conveneince" is either. The truck did not come with a/c though.

Re: can someone ID this steering wheel?

Here's the 1965 description:
The custom comfort option included a full-depth foam seat upholstered in a handsome striped nylon fabric and trimmed with vinyl in red or beige, depending on exterior color.
Also featured was a driver's door armrest, right hand door lock,chrome-trimmed control knobs, cigarette lighter,passenger-side visor and steering wheel horn ring.
White accented trim moldings were used on the outside of the doors and along the dispatch box between double moldings.
A ribbed trim plate reading custom was also applied to the roof to identify these Custom Cab trucks.

Re: can someone ID this steering wheel?

that's surprising you me. I would have guessed the trucks would have a bigger diameter wheel.

Ahh, sounds like you have a Super Sport, or at least the steering wheel from an upgraded interior package. The Chevy II steering wheels with the four chrome perimeter clips were the upgraded steering wheels often found in the SS option.

Here's a photo of my steering wheel from my '63 Chevy II SS - it's not exactly the same since my steering wheel has the four chrome perimeter clips, but you get the idea.

This is a photo of my steering wheel from my '63 C-10 Custom Cab...

I am going to have to watch for those wheels for the 66. I don't see any on the selling site, but hopefully , if they are that plentiful one could be found!

is that that same as kind of pregnant? The wheel in the first post would be from a 100 Series Chevy II/Nova. The 400 Series, Super Sports and 300/400 Wagons have the upgraded steering wheels with the 4 chrome clips. in 1964 and up, the wagons were either 100 Series, or not. The 100 Series wagons did not have as nice an interior.
