How much lift: 2" or 4"?

I'm looking add some a beefier look to my K20. Currently it's bone stock, with 31x10.50's on 16.5x8.25 steelies. My Pop has a 2009 Silverado 2 wheel drive that sits as high as my old girl does. Yeah, he's got those cool 20" wheels and tires, but I oughta have more attitude.
I'm in process of a complete resto-mod on it right now. I'll be putting 33x12.50's on it. I also looking for a set of 9.75x16.5 steelies that look sick on a stock truck.
So, with all the knowledge and experience here, and keep in mind I want a stock heavy duty look, what do you think? 2" or 4" lift?

is that picture your truck? if so, i would leave it like that and love it forever.

If you must lift it, I would only go 2". Just my opinion.

id go (and did) go with the 4in lift just cause i like em tall. i myself am 6'7 so that might explain it

i say leave it as is, but if you must lift it go with the 2". I went with 3" on my K20, and it defintly has a stock but beefy, heavy duty look.

If you go 2 inches I be in a few months you will wish you would have went with 4.

I am definately with Mudder on this one. In all of my years of experience, nearly everyone wishes that they had gone higher. The work involved in changing springs, shocks, etc.....is nearly the same, and it's not like the parts cost is that much more either.
There are "points" where things are more serious though. Going above 4" even to just 6" will cost more and be more involved because of steering and maybe driveshafts.
Going above 6" requires some more planning....etc. It gets more intense above this level.

I am thinking with the wider tires you will need a 4" to keep things from rubbing while turning at certain times.

You`ll want 4" with the tires & wheels you want.It`s not too high to go back down to smaller sizes.

I am leaning to the 4" lift right now. I've had a couple of late 70's short beds with 4" lift and 3" body lift. At that time I was looking to be lifted. Now, I don't really want it to look lifted, I just want an aggresive heavy duty stock look. Alot of posts are about four-wheeling clearence, but I'm not gonna be concerned with off-road ability. This is a summer only piece, and is garaged all the time. It's the only truck my girls know, and it sees about 400 miles a year. Radical color change too.
Note to special-K, you've got a set of those 9.75x16.5 wheels don't you?

Great looking truck. I think the 4" lift will work very well with the planned 33"s.

For perspective, here is my K20 back when it had a 4" front spring lift and 4" shackle flip with 35x12.50x16 tires.

Here is my soon to be ex K10 with 2.5 inch lift via soft ride springs. The tires are BFG 33x12.5 15's. To me its about perfect. Not too high so it can still be used to haul stuff without needing a ladder to load it up.

It used to have 31 10.5 15's on rallys, but it just wasnt beefy enough.

My K20 had those wide 9.75 inch steelies and 33x12.5 16.5's when I got it, but in my eyes the wheels were too wide. I got the narrower wheels and new BFG 33x12.5 16.5's for it and I think it looks a lot better.

Thats just a personal preference though....I forgot to mention the K20 is stock with no lift.

The 35's are a tick more than I really want, but your input is great. 4" would be necessary with those tires. CG, your black truck to me sits the way I want. Your green truck looks like my old girl's long lost twin from a different mother. The black wheels do focus your eye, but I thought they looked fine. I just prefer white wheels though if they are steelies. You guys putting picures with thoughts is really helping the decision. I've also learned that different vendors products will achieve different results. When I finally figure out the look, we'll discuss manufacturers for height and quality.

I'd go 2 inch on that truck, so itd be just beefy enough, without being overkill.

No pic, sorry, but my K20 sits exactly like CG's black truck. I have 2.5" Softrides up front, add-a-leafs on the stock rear pack, and 33x12.50-16.5 BFGs on 9.75" rims. I like the look, near-stock but just a bit beefier.

I would go with the 4"
My 72 K10 has a 4" lift with 33x12.50's and the stance looks killer. It's not too high but still looks mean!
