my truck will be on the road within two months (probably sooner)
i bought a 2001 silverado with a great running vortec 6.0l and 4l60e for $1200. thats right $1200!!!! tell me thats not a steal!!! the truck is missing the front inner and outer fenders and core support, and the trans cooler, but the radiator is there. everything else is there. it starts and runs the way it sits. so ive decided im gonna relocate and replace body mounts as needed and put my body on that frame. so ill have a 66 chevy that runs, rides and drives like an 01 silverado. im going to use the wiring harness and gauges exactly the way they are for now. i will eliminate the vats and emissions crap along the way. the only thing im worried about is the engine sitting too far back, but i wont know till i can measure and test fit. ill "cut and paste" my firewall if needed. since im going with a flatbed i wont need to worry with the frame length difference. im excited because i think its gonna be pretty cool. i cant wait to get started. i think ill need a new radiator because the one with it is too wide for the 66 engine compartment. just wanted to share and see what yalls thoughts were. ill post pictures as i make progress.

cool deal, the 2001 frame might be wider, and you might have to space the body mounts about 3 inches or so to clear the frame...

Cool! That's a good price for a driveable 6.0. Let us know how the measurements work out. I'm curious about this...

The truck might not run to well if you remove the emissions crap as you call it. Plus why would you not want to help keep the air clean.
The computer controled cars might need that stuff to run right.

you can reprogram the computer to eliminate the emissions crap. i dont like it, its a waste. it doesent help the environment, it makes it so you have to pay out the a$$ to replace stuff. plus it adds hp!!!

Last time I checked a Corvette ZO6 had some pretty good hp and 31 MPG to boot.
