What tire ?

I am going to 20's on the black truck . Probably 3-4 weeks out but I need to order tires . Front will be 20x8.5 with a 255/40/20 . For the rear it will be a 20x10 with either a 295/40/20 or a 295/45/20 . Anyone have pics of their trucks with these sizes on them ? My truck has alittle rake to it so I was wondering what the larger rear tire might look like .

Re: What tire ?

Those are two awesome trucks . Thanks for the pics . 1984 swb , what size front tire do you have on those Coys ?

Jared. I think my truck is lowered about 4.5/5 . The drop is supposed to be 3.5 front but it came out lower . The rear has 4 inch drop leafs and another inch using the first hole of a 2 inch shackle .

This truck looks like it has the right rear combo. What are the drop, wheel backspace specs , etc ?

Re: What tire ?

the rear wheels are 20x10 coddingtons with 4 3/4" b/s. The back of the truck is dropped with a Flip kit w/notch and a shackle It is supposed to be 8" but actually measures out at about 7 1/2 or so. I do here people say that the stance and wheel and tire size make the truck. I don't know

Re: What tire ?

Jared sick looking truck! its true the stance can make or break a truck. I got an off topic question for you what tonneau cover is that, make/model thats exactly what i want to get for my truck. also what size tire are you using up front and 255/45 or is it also a 40 series tire?

I agree bigarmzz. That truck is timeless . Stock appearing but modified will always be in style . Graphics, monochromatic paint etc will have its shelflife but will go out of style .The way Kens truck presents itself will always catch the eye . Its like a 1973-1980 truck "proof" that all others are measured against .
bigarmzz, keep on the lookout for my old tan 78 Cheyenne . It is in West Virginia somewhere .

Re: What tire ?

Frank, sorry for the hijack but I was wondering if the guys who posted pics/tire sizes thought the sidewalls on those tires were a bit short for a daily driver?

yep, thats basically the look i'm going for this time...stock looking, but lowered and larger rims/tires

i might need some help/suggestions on how to do it, i'm very rusty...been building bikes, and kind of got out of these trucks for several years now

your sooooo lucky Frank...your "basically" in the "meca" of rust free short bed trucks....literally everything around here is rusted all to hell....hardly any 73-87 trucks on the road anymore at all....

your lucky man, lucky

it's got a mcgaughey's 2.5" spindle and 2" springs. I had to trim about half a coil on top of that to get it to sit how I wanted it. I run a 255/45/18 on front and it will ocasionally rub the top of the tire on the inner fender well on a good dip. I guess it measured about 5-3/4" drop in front when I measured after I dropped it. I hope that helps! Oh by the way menace my favorites are all on here too. I could look at ken's truck all day long. I would love to see it in person one day. f. monroe: I just got done voting for yours. real good company on here.

Re: What tire ?

Thanks for the responses . And jared78 ,thanks for the vote as well . I will probably run a 295/40/20 rear tire . I havent been able to find a shot of a 295/45/20 yet . It shows to be 1 inch taller but that may or may not be a good thing .

Re: What tire ?

Pertaining to how it rides, The rear has plenty of rubber. The front is not as cushy, but I wouldn't call it harsh. Keep in mind I have air bags and that has an impact on the ride. I have had several people ride in my 77 and tell me how impressed they were with the ride.
