cant find the right intake!?

ok i thought i had a 1996 to 1997 5.7 liter 350 with vortec heads! so i bought a intake to fit that but its not even close! and the intake that was on my 305 wouldnt fit either! it was close but the 2 center bolts on each side go straight down instead of diagnal and my truck is a 1986. so what do i need to get? sorry if its confusing. Thanks zack

Re: cant find the right intake!?

On the 1996 - 2000 Vortec heads they did away with the two center bolts for the manifold & the remaining bolts go straight down. The 1987 - 1995 heads two center bolts for the manifold are at a slight angle, almost sraight down. The 1986 & older heads two center bolt for the manifold are at the same angle as the other manifold bolts. So if your two center bolt for the manifold are almost straight down you need a manifold for 1987 - 1995 heads.
If you are unsure of what heads you have post the casting numbers & I'm sure someone hear can tell you what year they are for you.

Re: cant find the right intake!?

3,000 & up RMS, yeah to extreme for a truck, especially if the rest of the engine is stock. I'd recommend an Edelbrock Performer, Prefromer RPM or a Weiand Action Plus intake manifold.
