New guy with '67 burb

Howdy everybody I'm new to this site and after looking for two years i finally got a Burban. It is a 1967 half ton with barn doors ,283, 4 speed, and no power options what so ever. It does have a newer interior and a little rust in the floor pans. It is gonna be my daily driver as soon as I replace some hoses and battery cables. Future plans call for power steering and possibly a TH400. I would like any feedback from anyone else with a similar Drivetrain. I have another 283 on a stand in the garage and am thinking of rebuilding it with a small cam, intake, and headers.

Re: New guy with '67 burb

welcome aboard i had a big old truck with a 283it was decent but a 350 would be a little cheaper to built plus more power with less effort cause these burbs are heavy i got a 283 at the house "steel crank, great heads etc still haven't justified putting it into one of the trucks good luck jason

Re: New guy with '67 burb

So I finally got some pics of the 67. I've started driving it everyday and really enjoy it. I have owned a 69 c10 pickup for 15 years but this is my first experience with a burb. I am kickin around the idea of parting out the 69 to benefit the suburban as I have added 6 lug disk brakes and power steering to it as well as several other mods to it. In case your wondering it is a long bed and the cab has plenty of rust (originally out of the midwest). My question is will the 69 power steering box work on the 67??? Every catalog I have seen does not group the 67 steering boxes with any other year. Thanks for any feedback and if this question has already been asked on this site I'll apologize in advance.

That's a sweet looking burb. Very nice. I love that color. Good luck with the mods.

You can search the truck forum on power steering and I bet you find something and this place is an awesome resource and has great people.

Re: New guy with '67 burb

Does the 67 have "bumps" on the frame where the steering box bolts to? If so, it's a direct bolt in. If not, you'll have to buy an adapter.

Re: New guy with '67 burb

Right on guys. Thanks for the kind words and info. As for front end pictures I will try and post as soon as my wife has time to help I am not to computer savy. Future plans call for disk brakes, power steering, and a 3/5 drop. I aquired a power steering pump, brackets, and crank pulley yesterday off a 68 impala. Now just need to confirm if I need the adapter kit for the steering box. Thanks for the info Hart Rod. The four speed is growing on me but me thinks the ratios in a car 4 speed would be a lot funner.

Thanks! It hasnt changed a whole lot in over 5 years. It still sports its rattle can paint job the po applied over the original gm503 green. It now has a 454 and TH400, disc brakes and power steering, rebuilt front suspension, 3.07 gears, and 2" lowering blocks in the rear. Its still my daily driver and I still like to upgrade parts when time/money allows.

Thanks. Its actually Krylon "jade". It is a satin sheen spray paint meant for wicker furniture. The PO thought it matched the original green fairly well.

Southern Oregon. Do you ever get up in my neck of the woods?
Dig your Burn. I picked up a '67 small window the other week.

Thanks! Yeah Im down south in the Rogue Valley just north of the CA border. I try to get up north at least twice a year as I have family in Portland. I really like your stretched cab project. Ya got some serious skills. Is the 67 503 Seafoam green by any chance?

Sadly no. I believe it is originally blue. The po painted it flat black.
Im getting a place at the track this year at the Spring swap meet in Portland at the track. Stop by if you get a chance.
