Lmc
Anybody have any experience ordering body panels/parts from LMC? It seems that they're a little cheaper than everyone else. I'm about to get ready to start piecing together everything that I need. If not LMC, who has the best fitment? I know that they're all going to be off by some margin...
Thanks |

Re: Lmc
I have and had good luck... Once I ordered a tailgate and it had a small dent when it arrived.. I called them just looking for a little discount since I had to repair it and they demanded sending me a new gate... They had me hold the old gate for a week then told me I could just throw it away...

Re: Lmc
I have always bought from board vendors. Many will work with you on pricing and they know their trucks. LMC is just a business who happens to sell truck parts. I support those who support us. Another thing to keep in mind...the best price doesn't mean the best part. Some of those that I have purchased from are Classic Heartbeat, Christians Classic, and GMCauls. There are many others. JMHO BTW... onstarting your project.

I had order bed floor for my blazer and they had sent me truck bed flooring, well they did not have any blazer bed floor so they refunded my money and told me to just keep the other. Real good poeple to deal with.

Re: Lmc
I have bought several thousands of dollars worth of parts through LMC throughout the years without any negative incidents whatsoever.
I just had an issue with a bumper I purchased for a customer's truck. The chrome was kinda thin, and after 5 months there was a couple of spots of surface rust(damned NY climate/salt).. I called them up, told them the situation, and they gladly are sending me a new bumper to replace the defective one-totally free of charge. They told me to keep the old one. They have always had their stuff in stock, and it is at my door in three to four days tops. The catalogs are the best in the industry. Some of their prices are higher, some are lower. Since a lot of this stuff comes from the same manufacturer, I like to price shop. Also, all orders over a grand is totally free shipping via UPS freight. I have used a few of the board vendors in the past, and while the parts were good quality, the excessive shipping times left a sour taste in my mouth.

Re: Lmc
A good personal friend is very high in the LMC Co., a couple of years ago the owner bought a nice watch, in excess of 100,000.00 kind of nice, and this is not the only nice watch the guy has . You do not get to that point without good service, and a nice product.
That being said, He also does not need your money, but some board members might ? If they have good parts, for the same price, and ship it timely, I would buy from them. But LMC is a good local company and I have always heard good things, |

Re: Lmc
Had a problem with the window sweeps from LMC. They are junk, and do not even touch the window glass, allowing water to get down into the doors. Their window channel liner was identical to NOS however. Hit and miss I guess.

Only experience I've had was the shipping was soooo ridiculous. I bought all mine from Mike's Bump and Grind Garage. BEST price I found not to mention a guy that really knows about our trucks. He's a board member too. http://www.bumpandgrindgarage.com/

Re: Lmc
I prefer to buy from board members. I've purchased stuff from Classic Heartbeat (Wes), and Brothers with no problems. I've also purchased stuff from LMC without any problems.
Now, having said all that, I had to buy almost all new front end sheet metal (fenders, inner fenders, & core support....I manged to salvage the hood) due to some heavy collision damage. I ordered my sheet metal (all Tri-Plus) from a local Chevy restoration shop. They ordered my stuff with their regular stocking orders (I had to order twice, because once I got the job open, I found more damage), but I didn't have to pay any shipping. Granted, I had to wait until they placed an order, but I saved several hundred $'s in shipping. My project is/was PAYGO, so waiting wasn't a big deal for me. Just something to consider, or check on. Oh, yeah. The fit up on the Tri-Plus parts was better than I could have ever imagined, especially after hearing all the horror stories about repop parts.

Re: Lmc
The reality is that most of the metal for our trucks is produced in Tiwan by one or two manufacturers. It is imported and relabled under several names but the quality is no where near original but in many cases--it's an acceptable substitute to NOS. Best thing about LMC is the selection and their catalog which has great illustrations. I go to board vendors first especially if they price to beat LMC. Hard to beat ~~~Heartbeat, Christians, So KY Class, Brothers, GMC Paul, etc.

While restoring my truck, almost 95% of the sheetmetal has come from LMC Truck and very please with the quality of the parts I have recieved. Only problem I had was the door skins. They were the half size and Bump and Grind Garage has good prices for those. Among other things. Good Post!

Re: Lmc
I've been a board member for a little over three years, but I've only recently been more active, spending quite a bit of time doing research and checking out ideas. Before I knew so many of the board members had a variety of parts, etc., for sale I had to get parts somewhere...LMC has often been the vendor I used.
I have to say, I've had really good luck with LMC. Most of the parts I've purchased worked as advertised and I've even been successful returning items for credit or exchange. They seem to be fairly knowledgable and supportive. As I spend more time here on this site, I'll probably tend to look at the board members for various parts, etc. But, there are still certain items, or when I'm in a time crunch, that I'll buy from other vendors, LMC will probably be one of them. I guess I really don't care about someone's $100,000 watch. I have other things to think about!

Re: Lmc
I'd go with Classic parts america http://www.classicparts.com/index.htm Ive found almost every part cheaper or at least the same price than LMC.
Ive had quite a few bad experiences with LMC;missing parts, incorrect parts, parts damaged...I guess I was asking for it when I ordered more from them after the first time, but I was willing to take the hit for their free shipping for orders over $1000 . This is especially helpful when ordering body parts to get free shipping on freight costs. As the other guy said its all the same taiwan crap anyway..the tailgate is nice though BTW. What really ticks me about LMC is that they dont know what they have or have any kind of tech support to back up their parts ..You basically need to already know or have had the experience with the parts to know what interchanges with what or to know any kind of tech info..I must say this site has been quite helpful in that area. Thanks a bunch to all of you Old timers! |

Re: Lmc
Always remember that the panels that come from the "Aftermarket" world will undoubtedly be thinnner sheetmetal than the original. That being said, I have many shops in my area the uses panels from them and their competitor Classic Parts.
I live just down the highway from LMC and I can go to the counter and get what I need. If there is an issue, I have been able to go back to them and we work it out. |
