Question water pump and paint question

The only water pump I can find has a plug in the top of it and the old one did not have this additional plug. Is there a place a water pump can be ordered that is like my old one within reason on cost? 72 Chevy 350V8

I was also wondering about the plug that controls the evaporative emissions control system canister because I am not putting it back on. When removing the evaporative emissions control system canister I have to remove all the vacuum lines and plug the gas line that went to the tank but I am not sure what to do with the electrical wire that plugs in on the right side of carburetor. Picture shows the solenoid I am taking about.

I am going to try my hand at using a gravity fed paint gun today using primer and want to know what the best material to clean the gun with would be. I am new and starting with the bed and with primer to see if and how it is and if I can do it.

Re: water pump and paint question

as far as the water pump, are you running a serpentine system? I ask because the only Water pump i have seen without the plug was on a serp. system. you can buy a plug to plug that hole if it is not being used.

Use laquer thinner to clean your HVLP gun.

I use lacquer thinner to clean my guns, when I am done. I buy the stuff from a local guy that sells it at a reduced price. I usually keep a 5 gallon can available in my shop. If you buy it by the gallon, from a supply store, the price is usually 3 to 5 times higher. I paid $25.00 for the 5 gallons that I now have.

Try Napa, just make sure the fan bolt pattern is the same. If you put an allen head plug in the top of the other ones they don't look to bad.

Trial fit the pump with gaskets first and check your pulley alignment with the crank. We have had to press the fan mounting collar on a little deeper on new or rebuilt pumps to get the pulleys to line up. Remove rear cover and just support the shaft while pressing the collar down.

MEK stay away from that stuff. Many aircraft mechanics in the last 10 years used that stuff for years. It has been proven the fumes are very toxic. Law suits, proved very cancerious. If you do use it, mask and eye protection the vapors are just lethal.
