standard stroke 350
i'm putting a standard stroke 350 in my 72 model. heads, cam, and nitrous. does anyone have a clue of what the record maybe for a full size truck w/ a n/a 350 in it.
also what times are you guys laying down w/ a n/a 350. i know there're some ridiculous times being layed down for forced induction 350's but how fast are you guys running on motor and motor w/ nitrous |

Re: standard stroke 350
if someone's running a Standard stroke 350 and making an Honest 500hp to the Wheels i will give them a doller...

Re: standard stroke 350
Why did you decide to build a 350? Are you going to use a stock 350 with the stock cast crank and rods? Not the best idea if you are going to run nitrous. Any time you run any kind of power adder a forged assembly is recommended, although not required. At the very least you need to run a forged piston. If you are going to buy a complete rotating assembly no reason not to build a 383, it cost about $1 more.
I am running a 383 (350 block) with nitrous.

Re: standard stroke 350
Watchout where you post that, you might be handing out a lot of dollArs. Although there aren't many that might build such a motor, but it is very possible and not that hard to do.

Re: standard stroke 350
i'm using steel crank/rods, and yes i have good pistons in it, using a nice set of ''TRW'' dome piston, CR is around 12:1 give or take a little"(will have to do a compression check to be for sure). i'm running aluminum heads, possibly a team g intake, holley 800 DP carb, reed performance 290/294(adv. duration) solid roller cam set up, 1.6 rockers(valve lift .704/.707) built th350 w/ 3500 BTE stall, chevy 12 bolt(deciding b/t 3.73 and 4.10 gears) w/ a 200 shot of giggly juice on top of all that.
a buddy of mine has a similar set up w/ worked camel humps, 13.5:1 CR, and a hydraulic roller cam, dunno the gears and stall, running low 10's in a 69 firebird. another reason that i'm going w/ a 350 is to see what i can get out of it since its pretty much already build but i'm already getting the stroker assembly (3.875'' crank) ready to go in once i play w/ the 350 for a while. its mainly for the street so its all fun in games. so does anybody have any times from a 350 powered fullsize |

Re: standard stroke 350
OK so i didnt know how Mild or Wild you were going but with 12:1 CR then it should happen Quite nicely! jesus i was thinking almost everything was stock not a solid roller, aluminum heads,800 double pumper.. DAMN way more wild then i expected

Re: standard stroke 350
lol the real kick is my fiance' will be doing all the driving. nothing in this motor will be stock other than the casting numbers on the block haha. another reason i'm building a wilde ass 350 is to promote business. if i can get a big tank moving fasting enough to turn heads down the 1320 i'll real in a few more customers. but all in all i like the challenge of moving a full size full metal body truck w/ a std stroke 350.

Re: standard stroke 350
Best I ever pulled out of a 350 in my 66 was 11.72 and it took the direct clutches out of the TH350 on the top end. That was with a 200HP shot. It may have been a low 11 second pass if the trans had held topgether,, but wouldn't have expected anything much better than 11.50. Considering it was a full 3800+ pounds then it was 'decent' for a plate system,, maybe making 500-550 on the hose.
The thing the 350 has going for it is rpm,, which is a little counterproductive with N2o. To make 200nitrous HP plus at high rpm's you really want to go with a multiport nozzles,, a plate just isn't the right package for small cubes moving moderate volumes of induction at high speed. The bigger advantage of nitrous (IMO) is the instant 'boost' in HP. This 'instant' 200hp at launch will do a lot more for ET than will a motor that has to 'spool up' (so to speak) to get into it's peaks. if you really want to push the envelope I think I'd launch of a plate system with like 150HP jets,,, and then hose it to near death with a 200 or 300HP port fogger. You will DEFINATELY be at near limits of the 'package',, and probably well into the 600HP range. Second,, Ricky,, you need to consider that those TRW slugs are HEAVY bastages. Especially with the tall compression height of a 350 piston you have a HUGE amount of weight swinging around out there. To reduce the mass have you considered using a 6" or even a 6.25" rod? I know SRP offers a shelf stock, semi 'budget' piston for the 3.48" stroke and 6" rods,, if you can get one for a 6.25" rod you would reduce the piston mass SUBSTANTIALLY making it more RPM friendly. Joey,, yes a 377 is 'typically' refering to a 400 block destroked with a 350 crank (4.155" bore and 3.48" stroke) There a very 'different' kind of motor than were all used to,, large bore unshrounds things allowing the motor to breath well at higher rpm,, short stroke allows things to stay together at those rpm's. My big issue with them is,,, RPM's kill more motors than brute HP. 600HP at 6500rpm is a hell of a lot easier on the assembly than 600HP at 8500,, but the 377 guys seem to love RPM's somewhere north of 7500,,, crazy if you ask me. But then I'm the guy that wants to shove a 4" stroke crank in everything

Re: standard stroke 350
Yep. 377ci = 4.155" bore x 3.48" stroke

Re: standard stroke 350
I just ran a 12.8 this weekend with a pretty mild 355 6inch rod motor but i smoked my converter or tranny (th350) now i am putting in a th400 with a brake and a bigger stall and hope fully i can drop that time some. i didnt really get to tune on it much do to short time being there so i know there is more left in the tune. this is in a 68 c10 stepside that weighs 3700lbs with me in it going down the track.

Re: standard stroke 350
i'm hoping to see mid-low 12's on motor w/ the set up i'm running, and to knock off a few 10ths w/ the bottle.
and you can also build a 377 w/ a std bore 350 and 400 crank |
