New climate control for my '70 GMC Question

My climate control (no AC) is stuck in the "fan on full" setting. Heat and defrost still work but I can't get the damn fan to turn off.

So I'm buying a new unit and found what looks like the exact same one at LMC and Classic Parts but the price is significantly different (LMC $129 and Classic Parts is $89). Here are the links:

Have you guys seen any major difference in quality between these two units?
Is the LMC unit worth an extra $40?

Just checking one more time to see if anyone has any experience with these climate controls from LMC and Classic.

If not, I'll buy the Classic (cheaper one) and post my feedback.

I doubt there is a difference. The same guy in China probably makes both and one place does better with their mark ups than the other.

BEFORE you buy, look at what you got. Specifically the fan switch. I converted my non-AC cab to an AC cab. When I got to putting things together and looked at the contoller, the plastic plug on the switch was melted. Through this site I found that a lot of these switches have the same problem.

If your switch is melted, and everything else works, you can get by way cheaper. Order a new switch and plastic connector for the back of the switch from LMC or any other place that sells the stuff. Then go to your local NAPA and order "type 56" connectors. They won't know what you are talking about so tell them to get you 20 or so pieces of part number 725147. This part is the brass colored connector inside most of the plastic connectors on your truck. You only need 4 or 5 for your heater switch but you want a hand full in your tool box for other repairs as you go along. FYI the male side of this connector for splices that need both a male and a female is 725145. While you're at it I'd get some of them too. You need more female ones because this is the connector that goes on switches, headlight plugs, ignition switches, etc.

Again if the plug is melted, look over the wires real good. You may need to replace them too. No biggie here either. Just trace the wire to the other end, remove it from the harness, and replace it with bulk wire that matches the color (match the color so you don't have problems 20 years from now trouble shooting fan problems).

If the plug isn't melted, nevermind.
