I've been scanning the "list" as I always do. Don't need another truck and can't afford another truck but I like to look. I was just thinking to myself how people didn't seem quite so proud of the beat up old trucks when I saw this.

1. It's never as nice as they say it is and

2. He's bragging about an all original truck but he wants to keep the drivetrain.

I've only recently bought this 70 short bed, but have traded on the old muscle cars for a long time, and I do see the prices declining the last yr or so, and expect it to continue in this screwed up economy. A savvy and wary buyer can get some good deals if you keep your eye on the market.

One of the few bad things I see about this old truck market is that it's going to cost damn nigh as much to restore a 67 short bed with a V8 and some cool options as it will to restore, say, a 67 Chevelle SS in the same condition, and the SS Chevelle is going to be worth way again more when you get through with it. Course, the initial cost of the Chevelle is going to be way more again than the initial cost of the 67 pickup truck, as well, so hopefully it'll all work out in the wash.

I can see, though, how it would be easy to sink more money in these old trucks than you'll ever get out of them, but that's no news messing with these old cars either. Labor of love in many cases.

That guy has lost his mind. He wants to sell a BASE MODEL LONG BED with no motor and no tranny for 3500. This isnt a 69 Camaro. It is an old long bed truck with an original 6 cylinder that isnt even there. I would bet it sits for a while.

I called a guy once about a fastback Mustang, as it was listed for a decent price. I asked him if it ran out good, and he said "sure. It runs great if it had an engine."

That's no b.s., and he was being serious. It wasn't a joke.

Even if he left the drivetrain in it...it's a 6 cylinder w 3 on the tree. Personally that would not deter me but a lot of guys want the V8 and auto.

for just chassis, body and interior i'd give him 1000 if it was rust free, and everything was neat and clean and functional..... and that's pushing it. for a running truck with a 307, 327 or 396 i'd give him 3500.00 and I6 id give 2000-2500max....

but hey i'm cheap.

ok, i have seen this before, but what exactly does that mean? worked? does it mean it's never been driven hard? does that mean he didn't use it in his part time plumbing business? does it mean the motor has never been "reworked" ?

Wow! I'm 3,000 to the good. I bought its twin with a good running 307/3OTT for $500. Mine is very solid, has a scratch dent on the passenger door and the front bumper is bent. I did good!!!
Mine ougtta be worth $5000 - $5500 if I leave the running V8 in there shouldn't it?

You can find them trucks all day long in missouri for 1200 to 2000 dollars running condition.Every time i see one on craigslist i want to go buy it. Its a good thing i cant afford them all or my property will be full.

as noted, I'm not real savvy about these old trucks, but a 396 in good condition should be worth $2,500. I know that if I had a good Chevelle body, I'd give that for a good running 396 engine. Hell, I'd give that without a body.
