Noob Chevy Guy from So. Dak.

Hello everyone, recently registered to this site, but have always been on here surfing around from time to time. Anyways, I'm a 20 yr. old farm boy from the western part of South Dakota, live and work on the family farm and ranch. Recently graduated from a local tech. school with my Associates degree in collision repair and have worked part time in a body shop. Have also completed few painting projects and do some airbrushing from time to time. Currently working on painting a dash for a NBS Silverado.

Heres my DD, an '01 Chevy..had this this since the fall of '05 and has 108,000 miles on it. Got numerous plans currently and for this spring/summer such as adding suede to the interior, leather seats, adding a body lift and 285s, and removing all the mouldings, stainless rocker panels, wheel well trim, mudflaps and will be two-toning it on the bottom. Most current pic from this summer:

My other newly acquired pickup is a '73 Chevy which I call the "Deer Slayer". This was an old ranch pickup of my grandpa's and has sat in the weeds for around 8 yrs. or so with a broken timing chain. So I got into rebuilding it up this last fall, with a new timing chain, along with a new fuel tank, alternator, starter, tie rod, used tires, radio with speakers, steering wheel, etc., etc. And lastly I built a full bumper grille guard for the front of it. Kid you not this thing is around 250 pounds. This is my hunting pickup and is something to go out and just beat the crap out of. Its a blast. Currently needs a new clutch, leaf spring, and the motor is slowly going. Heres a pic of it:

So after quite an introduction, I hope to become an active member on here and get to know a lot of you guys. Also, many SD guys here? Got a friend who should be on here.

Hello from semi rural Rapid Valley, not too far from you! Cool trucks. I don't have anything as nice as your '01. My trucks are closer in condition and age to your '73, but I dig beaters too!

There are a few SoDaks, several east river folks and 3 or 4 others
from the hills area, and I think there is a young man from farm country around Sturgis who was living in the RC area going to Vo-Tech.

Good to meet you also. Never dealt with Mel's, I have always heard that it is a body shop with a good reputation.

We are out in Green Valley, couple miles west of the airport on the south side of 44.

Are you going to stay on the farm or considering a career in collision repair?
I guess in this day and age many full time farmers/ranchers manage to make time for a second vocation too.
