JOY! Finished my K5 face lift, its DONE!

I've been working late finishing up everything and I'm DONE! It came out nice, new interior, new dash pad, added AM/FM radio, added factory tach, added tilt, new carpet with jute and FatMat. I'm done and its time to get back to my company/work. In this challenging economy we need to work twice as hard. Its time to enjoy the K5... with the top off

Re: JOY! Finished my K5 face lift, its DONE!

FatMat & jute should work nicely and bring down the road noise... Seats came out nice I got them from Tim Christian, plus the dash pad came out great installed. Now I can listen to FM, AM was getting old.

did you put the fat mat under the driver's seats too? I really need to do that too.

How much did it take?

Re: JOY! Finished my K5 face lift, its DONE!

I did put the fat mat under the drivers and pass seat but the corners are a bit of a pita so I did not do that area, I passed on the hump bolt areas. I basically did the flat areas in the drivers/pass areas. The fat mat is good stuff it really sticks HARD, you get one chance in laying it down, once its down-its down. I bought 100' of the fat mat but only used 50' hallf of the kit. I am going to post 50' for sale if you can wait, it will be a good price.

Re: JOY! Finished my K5 face lift, its DONE!

72 Levi you Blazer looks GREAT!!!

Bouncy, I bought 100SQ ft of fat mat and covered everything from the tailgate to the firewall. As much as I could cover with out A/C box removal. I was installing new rear side panels, and also covered the rear wheel humps, and the bed sides. Had some left over. After the owner drove away in his Blazer, my phone rings a few minutes later, I always hate that. He says " what did you do with my Blazer, cause this one is WAAYY quieter than the one I left with you. The stuff is amazing.

That's too pretty. I don't think me and my pile of crap are allowed to be seen around you any more.

Congratulations on "reaching the goal", after all, that's what it's all about.

Re: JOY! Finished my K5 face lift, its DONE!

Thanks guys, I'm in decent shape but my knees were starting to feel it... old age I guess All I can say is keep at it, you can finish some day and you will have a unique Blazer. Critter I admire the heck out of you for doing a restoration/frame off. I am sure it will be nicer than mine! Again, if you need seats talk to Tim Christian (First Class Guy) seats are very very close to original color/size. The dash pad was a bit of a challenge but the trick is to use a dremel and make the holes a little bit larger, then it will fit fine.

Carpet came from www.stockinteriors.com they will sendyou a sample for free. The color and loops are very close to factory original.

Let me know when you decide to sell the left overs. I might be interested since I plan on only doing the floors and maybe the inside of the doors.

Question Re: JOY! Finished my K5 face lift, its DONE!

Aside from my K/5, your Blazer is my favorite.

Where is the speaker mounted for the radio?

looking great. Can't wait to hear your verdict on the Fat Mat. I'm going to strip my interior to build my rollcage and will do Fat Mat or something similar. Keep us updated!

Re: JOY! Finished my K5 face lift, its DONE!

Hello All, I drove the Blazer today for the first time with the fat mat, there is a difference. Even though I have the top off I can tell it helped from the past drives when it was only the carpet. I did put a layer of jute under the carpet so I am sure everything does help. It was a beautiful day and the ride was very nice.
