My Six5 introduction and build....
Just wanted to introduce my self and my truck. I have been building hot rods for 5 years... Just sold this......
Was working on this but lost interest..... So now I have this........ Just got the truck in the garage today. Taking bed, cab and front end off tomorrow..... Hoping to have it lay sheet metal in time for our summer time "Hot August Nights" here in Reno, Nevada..... Going for this look.... Have a nasty all forged 502 Big Block with ZERO miles paired up with a 700R overdrive ready to go into truck. More to come..... six5..... Last edited by six5; 03-01-2009 at 02:07 AM. Re: My Six5 introduction and build....
Welcome to the board
That's a nice '66 you sold, was it an SS? Definitely looks like you have the skills, can't wait to see progress pics. We usually go to HAN every other year....missed last year and was hoping to go this year but don't know with the economy and all

Re: My Six5 introduction and build....
Thanks for the warm welcomes people...... Captain my 66 Impala was not a SS but had SS fenders so I used the SS badges. It had a 580 HP small block with a 3800 stall converter and 4.11 gears. It was a very clean ride but it was time for a change..... Thanks for the compliments.....
Here are a few more shots of the Impala........ I used John Deere Blitz Black semi gloss paint. It cost me $32.00 to paint the car. The other picture is of the custom stainless steel dash I made...... My specialty is low budget projects that look like I spent a lot of "coin"..... My six5 truck will be the same... If you get to HAN this year let me know. We can meet up....... Last edited by six5; 03-01-2009 at 03:21 AM. |

Chief HAN is still going. 2008 was one of the smallest turn outs in a long time. It might have been because of the economy..... Thanks for the compliments on the my previous rides everyone........ Last edited by six5; 03-09-2009 at 11:13 PM. |

Re: My Six5 introduction and build....
Ive heard it mentioned on this forum before. I have a paint store near me and I'll have to check it out. They are pretty well stocked....and there is still quite a bit of farming down here in the Valley.

Re: My Six5 introduction and build....
So I am going to start the rear notch tomorrow. Picked up this today to help with my fab work........... http://www.millerwelds.com/products/...m_375_x-treme/. I was able to get a smoking deal from my local Miller shop. I picked up this welder in Jan 2008.... http://www.millerwelds.com/products/...passport_plus/. I have no excuses now for not getting the truck down asap.....!!!

Re: My Six5 introduction and build....
Just made up my rear notches this afternoon. Put the new plasma to work. Cuts the 1/8 steel like butter.....!!!! I am going to try and install the notches tonight if I have time..... Total cost for notches is $40.00 for the material. So so far I have $420.00 into the truck. I picked up the truck for $380.00...!!!!!

Re: My Six5 introduction and build....
Well I figured I better gusset the notches before I weld them into the frame.

Welded the notches into the frame today. I ordered all the bushings parts for my wishbone and new control arms last night.

Re: My Six5 introduction and build....
Lookin good! I need to get my notches welded in, or decide if I'm going to spend the money on the Porterbuilt rear Dropmember! What do you plan to do on the frontend for airride? Keep up the nice welds!
